Suzhou Hushuguan economic and Technological Development Zone was established in September 1992 and approved as a provincial Economic Development Zone by Jiangsu People's Government in December 1993. In recent years, the development zone has vigorously developed cultural industry and implemented transformation and upgrading.

Suzhou Hushuguan economic and Technological Development Zone was founded in September 1992, and was approved as a provincial Economic Development Zone by Jiangsu Provincial People's Government in December 1993. In 2007, the development zone was upgraded to a department level system. In April 2009, the zoning scope of the development zone was adjusted, with a total area of about 36.5 square meters, including Beijing Hangzhou Grand Canal in the East, Fengqiao street in the south, ring expressway and Tong'an town in the west, and Huguang canal and Tong'an town in the north square kilometre. In 2013, it was approved to be upgraded to a national economic and Technological Development Zone, and the region remained unchanged. 2013 is an integral part of Suzhou urban master plan. There are more than 50000 permanent residents and more than 80000 floating population. The development zone is located in the northwest suburb of the ancient city of Suzhou, in the north of the high tech Zone. It is adjacent to Beijing Hangzhou Grand Canal in the East, ring expressway in the west, Fengqiao junction in the south, Huguang canal and Tong'an junction in the north. It has 312 national highway, Beijing Shanghai railway, Shanghai Nanjing Expressway, Huguan station of Shanghai Nanjing intercity railway and other convenient transportation, as well as Beijing Hangzhou canal, Jiangsu Dayangshan National Forest Park and other natural resources.
Since its establishment, relying on the transportation advantages of 312 national highway, Shanghai Nanjing Expressway, Beijing Shanghai railway, Beijing Hangzhou Grand Canal and the natural resources of Yangshan, dabaidang and other real mountains and waters, the development zone has invested more than 30 billion yuan in infrastructure construction, introduced and established more than 500 enterprises, registered foreign capital of 4.5 billion US dollars and registered domestic capital of 10 billion yuan. In 2002, the Development Zone seized the opportunity of Suzhou urban zoning adjustment, implemented large-scale development and construction, and created one construction miracle after another. The national export processing zone and customs bonded logistics center have created a "hundred day miracle" from construction to customs operation. More than 9000 farmers have been relocated, with a construction area of more than 8 million square meters, and more than 350 Chinese and foreign enterprises have been introduced. Schools, kindergartens, apartments for the elderly, homes for the aged, community service centers, health service centers, Party member service centers, service centers for the disabled, non-public enterprise activity centers and other social service facilities are complete. GDP and gross industrial output value are growing at an average annual rate of 55% and 70% respectively. The industrial structure has developed from single building materials and chemical industry to four pillar industries, including precision machinery, new building materials, electronic information, fine chemical industry and logistics and warehousing. With the national export processing zone as the center, there are Yangshan flower garden relocation residential area in the north, Daxin science and Technology Park in the south, Yangshan science and Technology Industrial Park, Dayangshan National Forest Park and Yangshan green landscape belt in the west, business service supporting area of export processing zone, Weide industrial city, dabaidang city ecological park, high tech customs bonded logistics center and Hutong film center business zone in the East The Grand Canal, the Ming and Qing Dynasties scenery belt and so on. In recent years, the development zone has vigorously developed the cultural industry and implemented the transformation and upgrading. The Suzhou Dongwu Museum has been awarded "Suzhou patriotism education base" by the Publicity Department of Suzhou municipal Party committee and "historical and cultural education base for primary and secondary schools" by Suzhou Education Bureau. Jiang Hongkun, Secretary of the municipal Party committee, attached great importance to the construction of the Soochow Museum and made an inscription on "developing cultural and Museum undertakings and promoting social civilization". At the same time, the development zone has strengthened the environmental construction, realized the requirements of greening, beautification and lighting, and comprehensively improved the living environment of the masses.
