Heqiao town

Heqiao town belongs to Yixing City, Wuxi City, and is located on the shore of Taihu Lake. It is a key town in Jiangsu Province, one of the four major towns in Yixing City. It is a famous historical and cultural town in the south of the Yangtze River with a history of more than 1500 years. In ancient times, it has been a prosperous commercial port with "thousands of leaves and boats gathered and merchants from all over the world passed by". Heqiao town covers an area of 101.34 square kilometers (2017), with a total population of 81100 people (2017). Rich in products, outstanding people, enjoy the "little Wuxi" reputation.

Heqiao is open to the outside world in an all-round way, and the investment environment is small but big. Historical evolution

Heqiao town was called Ezhou in ancient times. According to local chronicles, it is said that in 473 BC, Fan Li helped Gou Jian, king of Yue, destroy the state of Wu. In order to escape persecution, he disguised himself as a fisherman, drove a boat with Xi Shi, carried geese and ducks, and abandoned his official position.

One day, I passed by Heqiao and spent the night by the Wuzhi River in the south of the pond under Heqiao. I fed the geese and ducks on the beach. Later scholars called the eyatan there "E Zhou". From then on, "E Zhou" was called Heqiao.

It is also said that in the Song Dynasty, the Shao brothers were at odds with each other. After being advised by their neighbors, they built a bridge together to show their friendship and named it Heqiao. The town is named after the bridge.

In the Qing Dynasty, Heqiao town was established. Heqiao commune was established in January 1959. It was still changed into Heqiao town in May 1959. HeQiao township was merged in 1986, Nanxin town was merged in 2000, and Zhakou town was merged in 2004.

The original Nanxin town was Nanxin Township in 1949, changed to commune in 1959, changed to township in 1983 and changed to town in 1993. In 2000, the town was withdrawn and merged into Heqiao town. The former Zhakou town was named Zhakou Township in 1949, changed to commune in 1959, and changed to township in 1983. In 1999, towns were set up instead of townships. In 2004, the town was withdrawn and merged into Heqiao town.

Heqiao town is located in the north of Yixing City. It connects Wanshi town in the East, Qiting town and Gaocheng town in the south, Gehu town in the West and Caoqiao town and zhaiqiao town in Wujin District of Changzhou City in the north. Tongli village is located in the southeast of HeQiao Town, with an area of 4.5 square kilometers, 47 villager groups and more than 3700 people. Xiyi Expressway and Huyi first-class highway pass through the village. Shaohong Kong and Xili Caohe, which connect Taihu Lake and Gehu Lake, respectively flow through Tongli village for 3 kilometers.
