Meaning of place names
Place name source
Luoshe
The earliest record of the place name of Luoshe can be found in piling Zhi, which was rebuilt in the fourth year of Zhu Xianchun. It can be seen that the place name of Luoshe existed in the Southern Song Dynasty. There is no textual research on the origin of its name. For a long time, the local popular so-called "six dragons" and "six snakes" legend, is far fetched, nonsense. However, in order to preserve this folk creation with local characteristics, it is specially recorded as follows:
It is said that the original name of Luoshe is "Liunong", which is named after the six lanes (Dang lane, Qiao lane, guanzai lane, Shiren lane, Taohua lane and Sixiang Lane) that trade livestock and agricultural and sideline products. Later, Emperor Qianlong went down to the south of the Yangtze River, and the dragon boat passed by. He asked his entourage where he had been. When he heard that it was "Liunong", he mistook it for "Liulong", and he was furious. He thought that "today, there is only one real dragon in the world, one son of heaven. How can there be six dragons?" so he immediately issued an imperial edict and changed it to "six snakes". However, the people of Luoshe did not obey the will of the feudal rulers, but skillfully borrowed the homonym of "six snakes" and called it "Luoshe".
Double temple
The origin of the place name of Shuangmiao is to commemorate the two national heroes of the Southern Song Dynasty.
At the end of the Southern Song Dynasty, Wen Tianxiang, the general of the anti Yuan Dynasty, was stationed in Pingjiang prefecture (Suzhou). He heard that Boyan, the commander of the Yuan Dynasty, led 200000 troops to encircle Changzhou, and sent Yin Yu and Ma Shilong to lead two thousand troops to the rescue. He refused to send yuan soldiers to Wumu. The two generals Yin and Ma led their troops to fight bravely with few enemies. They were all martyred because of the failure of their own troops. They are known as the "blood paste field". Yuqiao (belonging to Wujin County) near mashilong's death in battle and Wumu's death in battle have always been collectively referred to as Wumu's death in battle. In the Ming Dynasty, in order to commemorate the two national heroes, the local people built a sacrificial temple, called "Er Zhong Temple", also known as "Shuang Zhong Temple", or "Shuang Temple" for short, in Wumu South Er Li (1 km). In the temple, there are statues of general Yin and General Ma, with inscriptions. The name of Shuangmiao comes from this. Later, because of the same place name "Shuangmiao" (North Shuangmiao) in Wujin County, it was also called "South Shuangmiao".
Goose shore
The two generals Yin and Ma died in the battle against the yuan soldiers. Among the people, there is a saying that Ma Shilong died in penglang village and Yin Yu died of starvation. Penglang village and ezi'an are both villages near Wumei. "Yin Yu's goose died on ezi'an", however, points out the origin of the place name on ezi'an. There is a moving legend
Yin Yu led the army to fight with Yuan soldiers in Wumu. Because of the large number of Yuan soldiers, his soldiers suffered a lot of casualties. He led 500 disabled soldiers to fight from the Bank of the canal to the nearby ludangtan (next to the current ezian village, southwest of Anzhuang) to support the resistance. At this time, the fishermen in Ludang were filled with righteous indignation and came out to support them. Some of them raised oars and harpoons as knives, and some threw right pieces as flying arrows to intercept yuan soldiers. Under the heavy siege of Yuan soldiers, Yin Yu's 500 soldiers and fishermen fought alone. At last, they died of starvation on the beach of Ludang because they ran out of food.
Later, people named this place "starved to death bank" to commemorate general Yin Yu and his warriors. Because of the bad name, it was gradually renamed "goose bank". Next to Anzhuang village, there was a field of about 2 mu. It's called "Esha land". The name of the land also has a commemorative significance.
Wumu
Wumu, located between Luodu and Henglin of Wujin County, is adjacent to the Grand Canal. It is said that during the reign of Zhu Xining in the North (1068), there were five brothers of the Qiang family, named Yuanming, Xunming, Weiming, Zhiming and Xianming. They passed the examination as Jinshi of the same branch, and at the same time served as the prefectures (prefectures), which were administrative divisions in ancient times. They were in charge of several counties. The prefectures were called "Mu". Jun mu, also known as Sheriff, Taishou), are well-known at that time. People call the birthplace of Qiang's Wujun Mu "Wumu".
Zhigong Bridge
Zhigongqiao is zhigongqiao village. Zhigong Qiao was originally the name of the bridge in the west of the village. The name of the village came from the name of the bridge, while Zhigong bridge got its name from the local Zhigong temple.
In the Southern Dynasty, Liang Wudi (Xiao Yan) believed in Buddhism and built Buddhist temples. It is said that Zhigong temple was built by him (according to the records of the old county annals, Zhigong temple was built in the early years of Zhu Jianyan), and he once drove the temple and granted the abbot as "Zhigong Zen master". At the peak of the temple, there were 5048 rooms and 360 monks. The original Mountain Gate couplet said: "the ancient temple of Liang Dynasty, the world-famous jungle." There is a gingko tree in the courtyard, which rises into the clouds. You can see the goal of this ancient temple in a ten mile radius. Today, there is no trace of Zhigong temple, and the name of "Zhigong bridge" remains the same.
Cao Cun
Cao village in Qunsheng village has never had the surname of Cao. The name of "Cao village" has its origin. According to legend, Zhao Kuangyin of the Northern Song Dynasty sent Cao Bin, a great general, to the south of the Yangtze River to wipe out the Southern Tang Dynasty (one of the Ten Kingdoms in the Five Dynasties). When Cao Bin went down to the south of the Yangtze River, he stationed his troops here to train his troops. He restrained his subordinates from killing one person or taking anything. Military discipline is strict and there is no crime. In memory of him, later generations named this place "Cao village", named the place where the soldiers were robbed and trained as "Cao gong'an" (in the north of the village, with an area of more than 160 mu), and named the place where he put his horse as "Ma Chi'an" (in the northeast of the village, with an area of more than 30 mu).
