Miao Town, subordinate to Chongming District of Shanghai, is located in the west of Chongming district. Its main part is adjacent to Gangxi town and Chengqiao town in the East, South Branch of Yangtze River in the south, Sanxing town in the West and former Changzheng and Hongxing farm in the north; Baigang village, 2 km southwest of Sanxing Town People's government, is adjacent to Sanxing town in the East, South Branch of Yangtze River in the south, LvHua town in the West and north; Xincun village, north of former Changzheng farm Dongshou, the south of yonglongsha and the North Branch of the Yangtze River, is adjacent to the former Yuejin farm and Xincun Township, and there are two sideline bases. In July 2020, the National Patriotic Health Campaign Committee reconfirmed Miao Town as a national health township.
History of construction
In 1984, the government and society were divided into Jiangkou Township, Hezuo Township and Miaozhen township. Approved by the Shanghai Municipal People's Government: in February 1994, the establishment of Miao Town and Jiangkou Town was abolished. In November 1995, the cooperative township system was abolished and the cooperative town was established. In December 2000, the original Jiangkou Town, Hezuo town and Miaozhen town were merged to form Miaozhen.

Climatic characteristics
The climate of Miaozhen is subtropical monsoon humid climate with four distinct seasons. Northerly wind prevails in winter and southeast wind prevails in summer.
Temperature: from 1985 to 2004, the annual average temperature was 15.69 ℃. Generally, the lowest temperature is in January, with an average temperature of 3.78 ℃. In January 1986 and January 1993, it was only 2.5 degrees Celsius. The highest temperature in July is 27.4 ℃. In July 1994, the temperature reached 29.6 degrees centigrade, which was the highest in history. It was also a year with extremely high temperature. There were many high temperatures in midsummer and no severe cold in midwinter.
Precipitation: the average annual precipitation from 1985 to 2004 is 1167.9 ml, 164.2 mm more than the average annual precipitation of 1003.7 mm from 1958 to 1984. The precipitation varies greatly from year to year, with 1666.3 MM being the most in 1999 and 737.9 MM being the least in 2003. In 1991, the number of days with annual precipitation greater than or equal to 25 mm reached 20, which was the largest year in history.
Sunshine: from 1985 to 2004, the annual average sunshine hours were 1982.4 hours, 121.6 hours less than the 27 year average sunshine hours from 1958 to 1984. In a year, the sunshine hours were generally the least in February, with an average of 130 hours, and only 60.2 hours in February 1990. The sunshine hours were the highest in July and August, with an average of 214.4 and 210.9 hours respectively in the past 20 years, and 323.9 and 259.9 hours respectively in July and August 1994.

Miaozhen is a plain, with a ground elevation of 3.1-4.6 meters, and an average elevation of 3.5 meters. Except for a small amount of stacked soil on both sides of the river after the construction of water conservancy, most of it is low farmland. According to the records of water conservancy records of Chongming Island, the former North and southwest of Hezuo Town, the west side of Xiaoli River, the former temple town and the south of Jiangkou, the ground elevation is below 3.5 meters, especially in the west of temple town, on both sides of the old culvert of qiaobigang, the ground elevation is between 3-3.25 meters, which is a waterlogging prone area.

Since 1981, there has been no change in the type of surface soil in the town, mainly paddy soil. In Panhong and Yong towns of Yongle Village, 13% of the area of the improved variety farm is loamy desalting soil, 23% of the area of the sideline farm is loamy light saline soil and 25% of the area is loamy desalting soil. There are six soil genera in the town: yellow mud, yellow sand mud, yellow mud, sand yellow, stacked soil and loamy saline soil. Among the 10 soil species, yellow sand is the main one, followed by yellow sand. The thickness of the soil layer is generally 3 to 5 inches. In Miao Town, there are many rivers and ditches, with water area of 1128.7 hectares, accounting for 18.5% of the total cultivated land. Nanhengyin river runs through the East and west of the territory. In addition to shangxiaoli River and Miaogong, county-level rivers also have Gelong port, Ergu port and panchuanhong, qiaobi port and taipingli river running through the north and south of the territory. Between county-level rivers, there are 56 town level rivers, 114.8 km in total, with a spacing of about 1000 meters. Between Henghe rivers, there are 1658 village level mingou rivers, 751.3 km in total, with a spacing of 80-100 meters.
