Baozhen
Bao town is subordinate to Chongming District of Shanghai, located in the south of Chongming Island, 23 kilometers away from the county. It is adjacent to dugang and Xianghua town in the East, changjiangnan channel in the southwest, Xiaolihe River in the northwest, Zhangzhang port and Lixin town in the north, and Gangyan town in the north. The town center is located at 31 ° 32 ′ 35 ″ N and 121 ° 37 ′ 55 ″ E.

Historical evolution
According to the records of Chongming county annals by Kangxi, after the "Japanese invasion" subsided, in 1617, in order to defend against the invasion of the pirates, Yuan Zhongxi, the magistrate of Chongming, submitted a petition to the court and agreed to build a fort city in Shen'an state (later, nine more Fort cities were built in the whole county). At that time, Shen'an Zhuangbao city was a castle made of clay and brick. It had five gates, with a radius of Three Li and eight Fen, second only to Changsha County of Chongming city with a radius of four Li and eight Fen. At the end of the Ming Dynasty, because of the increasing number of residents and frequent trade, a market town was formed, which was called Bao town. At the end of Ming Dynasty and the beginning of Qing Dynasty, Bao town was an important place for Gu Rong, a marine bandit, and Zhang Mingzhen, a Southern Ming anti Qing patriot, to compete with the government troops. At the beginning of Qing Dynasty, there was a flood control area for navy in Baozhen. In the fourth year of Qianlong's reign, the government set up the salt ambassador's office and salt house in Baozhen.
At the end of the Qing Dynasty and the beginning of the Republic of China, Bao town was divided into two parts: the South and the north.
In 1927, Baozhen was established.
In 1938, Wuzhen township was established.
In 1945, the town was changed into a district.
In June 1949, the town was divided into Nanpu town and Beipu town.
In April 1950, it was restored to Baozhen, a county town.
In 1953, Baozhen district was established.
In February 1955, Bao town was established.
In 1958, Baozhen people's Commune and Wuzhen people's commune were established.
In 1984, the people's commune of Baozhen and the people's commune of Wuzhen were abolished, and Baozhen Township and Wuzhen Township were established.
In June 1993, Baozhen town and Baozhen Township were abolished and a new Baozhen town was established.
In December 2000, Bao Town and Wuzhen Township were abolished and Bao town was established.

Bao town is located in the south of the Middle East of Chongming Island, bordering Nanhong road of the Yangtze River in the south, Gangyan town in the north, Xianghua town in the East, Lixin town in the west, 27km away from the county seat, and 20km away from the entrance of Chenjia town of Shanghai Yangtze River tunnel bridge. The total area of the town is 61.3 square kilometers, and the town area is 5.84 square kilometers.
