Zhujiajiao Town
Zhujiajiao Town, subordinate to Qingpu District of Shanghai, is located in the west of Shanghai and the south central part of Qingpu District, close to Dianshan Lake scenic spot. It is bordered by Daying and Huancheng in the East, Dianshan Lake in the West and Daguanyuan scenic spot across the lake, Shenxiang town in the South (merged with it in 2001) and Dianshanhu town in Kunshan City, Jiangsu Province in the north.
Zhujiajiao Town is located between 30 ° to 31 ° N and 120 ° to 121 ° e, 6 km away from Qingpu Town in the East and 48 km away from the center of Shanghai. National Highway 318 runs through the town. The total area of the town is 136.85 square kilometers (including water area). In 2013, the gross national product was 6.34 billion yuan.
In 1991, it was listed as one of the four famous historical and cultural towns in Shanghai. In 2007, it was awarded the third batch of "Chinese historical and cultural towns (villages)".
On October 14, 2016, Zhujiajiao Town, Qingpu District, Shanghai was rated as the first batch of small towns with Chinese characteristics by the Ministry of housing and urban rural development. On May 24, 2018, Zhujiajiao Town was selected as one of the top 50 small towns with the most beautiful characteristics.
Historical evolution
The land of Zhujiajiao was formed about 7000 years ago. Relics from the Neolithic Age to the spring and Autumn Warring States period are found at the bottom of Dianshan Lake.
Before the Tang Dynasty, it belonged to Youquan County, Lou County, Jiaxing County, Xinyi county and Kunshan county respectively.
In the tenth year of Tang Tianbao (751), it belonged to Huating county and Kunshan county.
During the song and Yuan Dynasties, Zhujiajiao Town became a small market town, known as Zhujia village.
From the beginning of Yuan Dynasty to the 29th year of Yuan Dynasty (1292), it belonged to Huating County, Shanghai county and Kunshan county.
In 1542, it belonged to Qingpu County and Kunshan county.
In 1612, because of the convenience of water transportation and commerce, Zhu family competed to become a big town. Zhujiacun was renamed zhujiege, also known as Zhuli and Zhuxi, commonly known as Jiaoli.
In 1713, Zhuli was divided into fifty-seven three districts: two, eleven and twenty-five.
At the end of the Qing Dynasty, local self negotiation was implemented, and the local area was called Zhuwei autonomous region, which was one of the 16 autonomous regions under the jurisdiction of Qingpu County, Jiangsu Province.
In 1910, the second year of Xuantong in Qing Dynasty, local autonomy was implemented, which was renamed Zhufeng autonomous region.
In the early years of the Republic of China, it was still called Zhufeng city.
In 1927, it was changed to Zhufeng Administrative Bureau.
In March 1929, the administrative bureau was abolished and Zhufeng district was still called the second of the thirteen districts in Qingpu County.
In 1931, the Second District Office was set up as one of the eight district offices in Qingpu County.
In the 29th year of the Republic of China (1940), it belonged to the Sixth District of Qingpu County, under the jurisdiction of Zhudong, Zhuxi, Zhubei three towns and Xuejian, Fengwo, Zhangdian, Zhangding, Anzhuang, Shenxiang six townships.
In September 1945, the Second District Office was restored, still governing three towns and six townships.
In the 35th year of the Republic of China (1946), the district office was abolished and renamed the district office. It has jurisdiction over one town and two townships, namely, Zhudong, Zhuxi, Zhubei and Zhangding townships were merged into one town, named Zhuxi town; Xuejian and Anzhuang townships were merged into one town, named Anzhuang township; Shenxiang, Fengwo and Zhangdian townships were merged into one town, named Fengwo township.
In February 1948, towns were merged. There were Qingdong (Qinglong) and Qingxi (Dianmao) district offices in the county. Zhuxi Town, Anzhuang and Fengwo townships belonged to Qingxi district office.
On May 14, 1949, the whole territory of Zhujiajiao was liberated, and then Zhujiajiao City, Qingpu County, Songjiang District, Southern Jiangsu administrative office was established. It has jurisdiction over Shenxiang, Wanlong, Fengwo, Xuejian and Zhujiajiao Town. The three streets of dongjingting, zhongjingting and xijingting, originally belonging to Kunshan County, belong to Zhujiajiao Town.
In April 1951, the municipal system was abolished and Zhujiajiao district was established. Three villages were set out from Shenxiang and Xuejian townships to form Anzhuang Township, which became five townships and one town.
In 1954, Tianxin Township, which originally belonged to Songjiang County, was assigned to Zhujiajiao district. At the same time, Zhujia village of Wanlong township was assigned to Chengnan Township of Chengxiang District, and nanheng village of Fengwo township was assigned to Tianma township of Songjiang County. In the summer of that year, the organization reorganized and abolished Zhujiajiao district. The three townships of Shenxiang, Anzhuang and Fengwo were assigned to Liantang District, and the three townships of Wanlong, Xuejian and Tianxin were assigned to Chengxiang District. In 1955, Zhujiajiao district was reestablished, all the six townships originally designated were returned, and Yingzhong, Wanshou and Chengnan townships in Chengxiang District were put under the jurisdiction of Zhujiajiao district. Zhujiajiao Town is still a county town, and the town people's government is renamed the town people's Committee.
In 1957, Wanlong District of yelong township was put under the jurisdiction of Zhujiajiao Town.
In September 1958, Zhujiajiao Town and yelong Township merged to form the red flag people's commune.
In 1959, it was renamed Zhujiajiao people's commune.
In August 1961, Zhujiajiao commune set up a town working group to take charge of town work and prepare for the division of town and community.
In February 1962, the town community was officially divided, and Zhujiajiao Town was restored as a county town, and the town people's government was established.
In 1968, the town government was renamed "town Revolutionary Committee".
In 1980, the name of the town people's government was restored.
In 1991, Zhujiajiao Town and Zhujiajiao Township merged into a county town.
In 2000, Qingpu District and Shenxiang town were merged into a new town Zhujiajiao central town.

Maodang area along the Maohe river is the main producing area of aquatic vegetables mainly planted with Zizania latifolia; the main producing area of economic crops mainly planted with greenhouse watermelon and fruit trees along the main roads and high-lying polder areas, and the main producing area of high-quality aquatic products along the main rivers and great lakes.
The town has registered "yuegengxiang" rice, "maota" vegetables, "Tangqiao" vegetable seeds, "zhujiacuipi" watermelon, "Baiguoyuan" fruit, "Guqiao" agricultural machinery and other agricultural products trademarks.
