Laogang Town, subordinate to Pudong New Area of Shanghai, is located in the southeast of Pudong New Area. It is less than 7 km away from Huinan town and only 55 km away from the center of Shanghai.

History of construction
Penggongtang was built in Nanhui County in 1884, and ligongtang was built in 1906. The vast land between the two ponds was reclaimed. Laogang area is under the jurisdiction of ertuan Township and Chengdong township of Nanhui County.
From 1910 to 1912, Nanhui County was divided into two towns and 17 townships. Laogang area is still under the jurisdiction of ertuan Township and Chengdong township.
In 1929, Nanhui County changed its administrative bureau into an autonomous regional office. Laogang area is under the jurisdiction of ertuan Township and Chengdong Township, the first district of Nanhui County.
During the Anti Japanese war from 1937 to 1945, Nanhui County was a special district of Shanghai. Laogang area is the first division, and Rixin Township, Wudun Township, Laogang Township, Xindun Township and Binhai township are all under the jurisdiction of the first division.
After the victory of the Anti Japanese war in 1945, Nanhui County resumed the establishment of eight districts and 58 towns before the Anti Japanese war. Laogang area is under the jurisdiction of Sinan Township, Chengdong Township, Huanglu Township and Yanlu Township in the first district.
On March 4, 1947, Nanhui County implemented the policy of merger and protection. The original 19 insurances in ertuan Township were merged into 12 insurances, and the original 20 insurances in Chengdong Township were merged into 12 insurances. In Laogang area, there are two to six guarantees in ertuan Township and one to five guarantees in Chengdong township.
On May 14, 1949, the old port area was liberated.
In January 1950, Nanhui County established the old port area.
In September 1957, the district was withdrawn and the township was merged to establish Laogang township.
In September 1958, the Management Committee of Laogang people's commune was established.
In April 1984, the government and society were separated and Laogang township was established.
In September 1995, the system of Laogang township was abolished and Laogang town was established. Here, Laogang town (commune, township) has been subordinate to Nanhui County.
In August 2001, Nanhui County was removed and built into a district. Laogang town is subordinate to Nanhui District of Shanghai.
