Zhuqiao town
Located in the middle of Pudong New Area, Zhuqiao town is adjacent to Pudong International Airport and airport comprehensive free trade zone in the East, commercial aircraft assembly base in the south, Disneyland and Shanghai East Railway Station in the west, and "Hongqiao Pudong" airport development golden axis in the north The core area of the belt is the hinterland of Shanghai's construction of an international shipping center and the base of China's large aircraft industry.
With an area of 160.19 square kilometers, Zhuqiao town governs five communities and 64 villages, including Zhuqiao, Yancang, Donghai, Jiangzhen and Shiwan, with a population of 120000, including 241138 permanent residents (2017).
It has the former residence of Zhang Wentian, a key cultural relic protection unit in China. In January 2003, it was named "Shanghai patriotism education base" by Shanghai municipal government.
Historical evolution
The origin of the name
According to historical records, with the construction of Haitang in 1172, the eighth year of Qiandao in the Southern Song Dynasty as a symbol, the territory of Zhuqiao town gradually became land, and the people gradually migrated. During the Jiajing period of Ming Dynasty, Qiao boring, in order to prevent the invasion of Japanese pirates, excavated the yukou River on the east side of the inner seawall, and built a bamboo bridge on the river. Today, the name of "Zhu Bridge" is the homonym of "Zhu Bridge".
Evolution of organizational system
In 1172, Zhuqiao area belonged to Huating County, Jiaxing Prefecture.
In the 28th year of the Yuan Dynasty (1291), the Yuan government designated five townships, including Changren Township in the northeast of Huating County, Songjiang Prefecture, to build Shanghai county. Zhuqiao area was subordinate to Shanghai county, Songjiang Prefecture.
In the second year of Longqing (1568) of Ming Dynasty, Zheng yuanshao, the chief financial officer of Songjiang Prefecture, made the land of Qingzhang. He organized a group and made a fish scale book. Today, Zhuqiao area has the name of five groups. At that time, Nanhui belonged to Changren Township, Shanghai county, Songjiang Prefecture. At that time, the territory of Zhuqiao was located in the east of Changren township. It was set up as a saltern and subordinate to Xiasha saltern. There is only a group kitchen organization, but no administrative establishment.
In 1726, nine regiments of Changren Township and Xiasha salt farm in Shanghai were set up to establish Nanhui County. The fifth Regiment (Zhuqiao area) belonged to Nanhui County, Songjiang Prefecture, Jiangsu Province. During the reign of Xuantong of Qing Dynasty, the Qing government implemented local autonomy. In 1911, the Wutuan Township autonomous office was officially established, which belongs to Nanhui County.
In 1927, Nanhui County implemented the system of Lu and Lin. The former Wutuan township was divided into one town and 15 townships. Under the townships and towns, there is a Lu, and under the Lu there is a neighbor. In 1934, Nanhui County was divided into eight districts, including townships and towns. The former Wutuan Township belongs to the Second District of Nanhui County.
During the Anti Japanese War, Zhuqiao area was subordinate to Nanhui County of Shanghai and Nanhui District of Shanghai.
In February 1946, after the victory of the Anti Japanese War, Nanhui County was reorganized into towns. Zhuqiao town was under the jurisdiction of the Second District of Nanhui County, Jiangsu Province. In the spring of 1947, Nanhui County was divided into districts and merged into townships, and the system of Wutuan township was restored.
On May 14, 1949, Wutuan township (Zhuqiao area) was liberated. In June, the county was designated as a joint office of one city, one district and six townships. Wutuan township (Zhuqiao area) is subordinate to the first Township Joint Office of Nanhui County. In November, the townships under the first Township Joint Office held a meeting of farmers' representatives to establish district and Township People's governments. Wutuan township was divided into Zhuqiao Township, Zhuxi Township, Zhudong Township, Liangting Township, Panhong Township and Xinhong Township, which were subordinate to Nanhui County, Songjiang special district of Southern Jiangsu administrative office.
In July 1957, Nanhui County withdrew the district and merged the township, and established Zhuqiao township (Daxiang).
In September 1958, Dongfanghong people's commune was established. In November, Nanhui County was transferred from Jiangsu Province to Shanghai, and Dongfanghong people's commune was subordinate to Nanhui County in Shanghai.
In June 1959, Zhuqiao area separated from Dongfanghong people's Commune and established Zhuqiao people's commune.
In February 1968, the Revolutionary Committee of Zhuqiao people's commune was established.
In December 1980, the Management Committee of Zhuqiao people's commune was restored.
In April 1984, the government and society were separated and Zhuqiao township was established. In September 1994, the township was removed to build a town and renamed Zhuqiao Town, realizing the system of town managing village.
In August 2001, Nanhui County was removed and built into a district. Zhuqiao town is subordinate to Nanhui District of Shanghai.
On May 8, 2003, the original systems of Zhuqiao Town, Yancang town and Donghai town were abolished and a new Zhuqiao town was established.

Zhuqiao town is located in the east of dieyuan highland, the terrain is slightly higher. The ground elevation (calculated from Wusong datum level) is between 3.7 m and 4.7 m, 0.5-1.5 m higher than that along the Huangpu River (3.24 m). The terrain of Zhuqiao town on both sides of qingongtang is relatively high, about 4-5 meters, lower in the East and West, and only 3.5-4 meters to the east of wanggongtang. The ground elevation difference is not more than 1 meter, so the terrain is flat.
