The origin of the name
Muling is named after the Muling River in its territory. Muling River, the ancestors of Manchu, such as Sushen and Wuji, is also known as Mulun River, Moli River and Malan River. Therefore, Mulun, Malan, Muling and mulen are homophonic with Muling, which are the Chinese translations of "Muling" in different periods. "Ji Lin Jiu Wen Lu" on Muling's "place name interpretation" is interpreted as "Muling, Manchu original sound for" Molin ", Ma ye (Dahan Ma Ju ye). In ancient times, it was a horse producing area. " According to the general situation of Muling County compiled in the third year of Kant, Muling (Mulun) is the old place of ancient Sushen (3000 years ago). During the period of Bohai State, it was a horse ranch. At that time, both sides of Mulun River were the places where ethnic minorities rode and shot.
It has a long history and many historical sites. In Manchu, Muling means "horse herding". Muling River Basin was the horse herding farm of ancient Bohai State, so Muling town got its name.
