Yanan Township originally belonged to Hanconggou town. In June 1992, Yanan village, Pingyuan village and Hongsheng village in the west of Nongjiang River in Jiehan conggou town were established as Yanan township.

In 2018, Yanan township has a comprehensive store or supermarket with a business area of more than 50 square meters.
