It borders Aoqi town in the East, Qunsheng Township in the south, Yilan County in the West and Songhua River in the north. In the Republic of China, it belongs to Anye District of Huachuan County. In the 19th year of the Republic of China (November 1930), dalaigang town was established, belonging to the fourth district. After the fall of Northeast China, dalaigang district was set up, and then dalaigang village was changed. In 1945, dalaigang district was established. In July 1950, it was renamed District 7. In March 1956, dalaigang township was established. In November 1957, Huachuan County was transferred to Jiamusi city. In September 1958, Yuejin commune was merged with Yongan, Yutai and Xinghua. In August 1961, it was divided into Dalai and Yong'an communes. In June 1964, it was transferred to Huachuan County. In 1972, it was transferred to Jiamusi city. In May 1984, it was changed to Dalai township. In March 1985, the township was transformed into a town.

The southern part is mostly hilly and mountainous area, which belongs to Wandashan vein; the northern part is flat, which is Songhuajiang alluvial plain. Southwest edge of the highest terrain, mountains, Ma'anshan, the highest point in the territory, 485 meters above sea level.
