Futun Street originally belonged to Guangning commune; in 1990, it was renamed futun township. In 2013, futun township was replaced by futun street. At the end of 2011, the total population of futun street was 20262. As of June 2020, futun street has jurisdiction over 10 administrative villages.

Futun street used to belong to Guangning commune.
In 1961, futun commune was established.
In 1983, futun commune was transformed into futun township.
In 1988, it was renamed futun Manchu Township.
In 1990, it was renamed futun township.

History and culture
During the reign of emperor Shunzhi of the Qing Dynasty (1644-1661), there was a Fu surname who moved from leting County, Zhili Province and settled here. It was named Fu tun. In 1961, Fu was changed to Fu, which was called Fu tun.
