History of construction
In the Tang Dynasty, Huashan county was established.
In Liao and Jin Dynasties, it was set up in Ximu county.
During the period of the Republic of China, it was divided into districts.
During the period of Puppet Manchuria, an analytical village office was set up. Today, longfengyu and gushaoshi were once the territories of Xiuyan County.
In October 1949, a democratic government was set up in Ximu district. Longfengyu and gusaoshi were assigned to Ximu district.
In 1958, xiemu township was set up, and in the autumn of the same year, xiemu commune was changed.
In 1961, Ximu commune was divided into four communes: Ximu commune, Jiewen commune, Gushan commune and Chagou commune.
In 1983, it was changed to Muxiang.
In 1984, it was changed to Mu town.

At the end of 2011, Ximu town had 15 administrative villages: Ximu, gangyaoling, Liuguan, dabaihu, laodabao, pucaoyu, gusaoshi, dadaoyu, longfengyu, Shijianfang, yangjiaoyu, Songshugou, Hongtuling, Shanglin and Xialin, with 102 villager groups.
As of June 2020, Ximu town has 15 administrative villages: gangyaoling village, laodabao village, dabaihu village, gusaoshi village, pucaoyu village, dadaoyu village, Shijianfang village, longfengyu village, yangjiaoyu village, Songshugou village, Hongtuling village, Shanglin village, Xialin village, Ximu village and liuguantun village. The town people's government is stationed at 1736 Ximu village.

History and culture
It is said that Li Shimin once defeated Gai Suwen here. Thinking of his mother, he worshipped here. Later generations renamed this city "Sima city", which was later homonymous as "Ximu city".

Built in the bronze age, the Yimu stone shed is made of six huge granite stone slabs which have been processed and ground. The height of the shed is 2.8 meters, the upper cover is slightly rectangular, 6 meters long, 5.1 meters wide, and 0.47 meters thick, extending out all around. The east wall stone is 2.13 meters high, and the west wall stone is 2.2 meters high, symmetrical with the east wall stone. The north wall stone is close to the north end of the east wall stone, 2.7 meters high, thin on the top and thick on the bottom It is 2.2 meters long, 1.77 meters at the widest, 1.55 meters at the narrowest, and 0.8 meters above the surface. On September 30, 1963, Haicheng Jiemu stone shed was announced by Liaoning Provincial People's Committee as the first batch of key cultural relics protection units in Liaoning Province. On June 25, 2002, it was announced by the State Council as the fifth batch of national key cultural relics protection units.
Jinta, built in Liao Dynasty, is located in the mountains on the right bank of Yangliu River, Ximu Town, Haicheng City.
The tower is located in the northwest corner of Ximu Town, 20 kilometers southeast of Haicheng City. It was built in the Jin Dynasty, about 10 meters high. It is a brick tower with six sides and seven levels of solid dense eaves. The six corners of the tower have round columns made of brick and imitated wood, with column heads. There are four pavilions to make brackets. Each side has a brick Buddha, about 1.5 meters high, with a treasure cover. On the second floor, there are two small sitting Buddhas carved in brick on each side, with different shapes. The dense eaves on each floor are stacked with brick, with a slight degree of contraction. The top of the tower is a covered bowl type, and the iron brake rod is inserted on it.
