Maodu Township
Maodu Township, a township under the jurisdiction of Shangdu County, Wulanchabu City, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, is located in the north of Shangdu County, adjacent to gonglahudong township of Huade County in the East, glasshujing Township in the south, dakulun Township in the West and xinbaogela town of Xianghuang Banner in Xilin Gol League in the North, with an administrative area of 281.34 square kilometers.
After October 1949, it was the Sixth District of Shangdu County; in June 1956, Maodu township was established; in April 1958, Denggao commune was established; in 1961, it was renamed Maodu commune; in October 1984, Maodu commune was changed to township. By the end of 2018, the population of registered residence in Mu Du township was 15551. As of June 2020, Maodu has jurisdiction over 13 administrative villages.
In 2011, the per capita net income of farmers in Maodu township was 3895 yuan. In 2018, Maodu township has 3 industrial enterprises and 8 comprehensive stores or supermarkets with a business area of more than 50 square meters.
History of construction
After October 1949, it was the Sixth District of Shangdu county.
In June 1956, Maodu township was established.
In April 1958, Denggao commune was established.
In 1961, it was renamed Maodu commune.
In October 1984, Maodu commune was transformed into a township.
In 2006, the xinweizi village committee of dakulun township was incorporated.

Maodu township is high in the East and low in the West. Tonggulu mountain is the main mountain range. Tongding mountain, the highest peak in the territory, is located in the north of Maodu, with an altitude of 1612 meters; quanzigou, the lowest point, is located in the southwest of Maodu, with an altitude of 1485 meters.

History and culture
”"Maodu" is Mongolian, which means "a place with trees". Around the 28th year of the reign of Emperor Guangxu of the Qing Dynasty (1902), because the Mongolian herdsmen living here saw a small number of trees (actually shrubs) growing there, they named Maodu.
