Qitai town
Qitai Town, under the jurisdiction of Shangdu County, Wulanchabu City, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, is the seat of Shangdu County People's government. It is located in the southwest of Shangdu County, adjacent to shibaqing town and Xiaohaizi town in the East, SAIWUSU town in Xinghe County in the south, Baiyinchagan town in Chahar right wing rear banner in the west, XIJINGZI Town, tunkendui town and glasshujing Township in the north, with an administrative area of 283.72 square kilometers.
In 1949, it was a district; in August 1956, Chengguan town was set up; in 2001, it was renamed Shangdu town; in August 2006, it was renamed Qitai town. By the end of 2018, the number of registered residence in seven towns was 78942. As of June 2020, Qitai town has 20 communities and 15 administrative villages.
In 2011, the per capita net income of farmers in Qitai town was 3906 yuan. In 2018, there were 186 industrial enterprises in Qitai Town, including 18 Enterprises above Designated Size and 255 comprehensive stores or supermarkets with a business area of more than 50 square meters.
History of construction
In 1949, it was a district.
In August 1956, Chengguan town was established.
In August 1958, the commune was established and renamed Liaoyuan commune; in the same year, it was incorporated into Hongqi commune.
In January 1960, it was divided into Chengguan commune and xifangzi commune.
In October 1985, it was changed into Chengguan town.
In 2001, it was renamed Shangdu town.
In August 2006, it was renamed Qitai town.

As of June 2020, Qitai town has 20 communities and 15 administrative villages, and the town people's government is located in Luwang street community.

History and culture
During the reign of Emperor Qianlong of Qing Dynasty (1736-1795), it was the seventh post station (commonly known as "Tai") from Zhangjiakou to dakulun (now Ulan Bator, the capital of the people's Republic of Mongolia), so it was called "Qitai".
