Qiukou town

Qiukou town is located in the northeast of Wuyuan County, adjacent to Ziyang town in the south, Jiangwan in the East, Dexing zhancai in the southeast, Sikou town in the West and duanshen town in the north. With a total area of 225.52 square kilometers and a permanent population of 22674 (in 2017), it has 15 administrative villages including Baishi, Wangcun, Yutan, qiukou, Huangyuan, Likeng, zhancai, yankeng, Lingxi, Guanqiao, Qiuxi, Liyuan, cikeng, zicha and Zhuxi, and 101 natural villages. It is one of the most populous towns in Wuyuan.

Historical evolution

It is named after qiukou village. A long time ago, there was a ridge leading to Duan Xin, which was called xiaoqiuling. Qiukou village was named after it. Before the founding of the people's Republic of China, it belonged to Cixi, Xikeng, Yunqiu, Hetian, Wangkou, Qingyuan and other townships. At the beginning of the founding of the people's Republic of China, it belonged to Yunqiu, Qingyuan, Wangkou, Likeng, Hetian and other townships. In 1958, qiukou commune and zhanggongshan reclamation farm zhancai branch were established. In 1960, zhancai branch was merged into qiukou commune. In 1961, qiukou commune and zhancai commune were set up separately. In 1962, they were merged into qiukou commune. In 1984, they were renamed qiukou township. In 1993, they were withdrawn from township to establish town. In 1997, it covers an area of 219 square kilometers and has a population of 22000. Traffic conditions

Xiwu highway, a provincial highway, runs through the whole area. Jingwu Huanghe highway passes through Wangcun, Yutan, qiukou, Likeng and Huangyuan villages for 5 kilometers.
