In February 1984, Jinchanggouliang town was built and the people's government was stationed in Jinchanggouliang village. In October 2019, Jinchanggouliang town governs 14 administrative villages.

Jinchanggouliang town is located in the middle and eastern part of nuruerhu mountain in Yanshan Mountains, with low mountains and hills. The terrain is "Six Mountains, two ditches and two fields". The main peaks in the territory are Pingdingshan, jiaeshan, yunyingshan and other 19. Most of the areas are between 620 and 750 meters above sea level. The highest point is located in Pingdingshan, south of fanjiagoutun, with an altitude of 1132.6 meters; the lowest point is located in the north of Hebei Tun, with an altitude of 590 meters.
