Tangshan street belongs to Jiangning District of Nanjing city. It is located in the northeast of Jiangning District. Tangshui town was established in the Qing Dynasty and renamed Tangshan town in 1934.
Shangfeng township was built in 1950. Tangshan commune was established in 1958, and Shangfeng commune was established in 1962.
In 1984, it was changed to Tangshan town and Shangfeng township. In 1995, Shangfeng township was set up as a town.
In 1996, Tangshan town covers an area of 117 square kilometers with a population of 41000. It has jurisdiction over 16 administrative villages including Huashu, Hushan, mengbei, beishangzhuang, Longquan, Guquan, Tangshan, mengtang, Anjishan, Qinglin, zuochang, Ximei, Zhongxin, Luxi, Jianshe and Sizhuang, and three neighborhood committees including Tangshan, Tangquan and zuochang. Shangfeng town covers an area of 71 square kilometers with a population of 27000, and has jurisdiction over Huakuai, Mengmu, Xinning, Qinglin and zuochang There are 13 administrative villages in Baihe, Tanshan, Gaozhuang, Shangfeng, ligangtou, Fuxi, Fudong, Ningdong, Ningxi and Zhuangli and the neighborhood committee of Shangfeng town.

In 2005, Tangshan town was abolished and Tangshan street was established.
In March 2006, Tangshan street and Shangfeng town were abolished, and the former Tangshan street management area was merged with the former Shangfeng town jurisdiction area, as well as the former Qilin town jurisdiction of Yuemin, qilinmen, qilinpu, Chenguang, Suoshi five neighborhood committee areas and the three administrative villages of Dongliu, Qingxi, yuanjiabian to establish a new Tangshan street. After the adjustment, Tangshan street has an area of 223 square kilometers and a permanent resident population of 8.62 It manages 16 neighborhood committees and 18 administrative villages.

In May 2010, the four communities of qilinmen, qilinpu, Chenguang and Suoshi in Tangshan street and the two administrative villages of Dongliu and yuanjiabian were put under the management of the newly established Qilin street. In 2010, there were 70131 permanent residents (sixth census).
In May 5, 2011, the hueshu village and the monbei village of Tangshan street in Jiangning district were assigned to the Xigang district management of Qixia district. Transportation
Tangshan has Tangtong highway to Nanjing Lukou International Airport in the south, Tanglong highway to xinshengwei port in the north, Shanghai Nanjing Expressway and Nanjing Hangzhou highway passing through from west to East.
