Huwei Township, subordinate to Dongxiang District, Fuzhou City, Jiangxi Province, is located in the south of Dongxiang District, adjacent to gankeng forest farm in the East, Liwei town and gangshangji town in the south, gangshangji town and weishangqiao town in the west, and Xiaogang town in the north. In 1940, Huwei township was built.
In 1949, Huwei Township belonged to Xiaogang district; in 1950, Huwei township was divided into Huwei, Xinkan, Maxi and Houke townships; in 1956, Huwei, Xinkan, Maxi and Houke townships were merged into Huwei township; in 1958, Huwei commune was established; in 1968, Huwei commune was divided into two parts, which were merged into Hongwei town and Dongyuan commune; in June 1984, Huwei commune was abolished and Huwei township was restored.
