History of construction
Jiangdong Street is named for its location on the East Bank of Wujiang River.
In the Qing Dynasty, it belonged to the land of changtanli in Fuzhou, with three rural farms of ditangpu, liangshuipu and tiantaisi; in the late Qing Dynasty, it belonged to the urban area of Fuzhou and Baitao Town, the second district.
In 1931, it belonged to the first district of Fuling County, with liangtang and Tiantai townships.
In 1956, it was set up as liangtang, Caichang and Tiantai Township, belonging to the suburb of Fuling county.
In June 1987, Qiaotou village and Gaoshi village were set up in Caichang Township, and Shuangjiang village, Chaqi village and tanlao village were set up in liangtang township. Jiangdong Street was set up under the jurisdiction of Fuling City.
In July 1992, liangtang and Tiantai were merged into Jiangdong Street.
