Dongping town

Dongping town is a town under the jurisdiction of Chongming District of Shanghai. It is located in the middle of the northern edge of Chongming Island and adjacent to the national Dongping forest park. It was approved by the Shanghai municipal government in August 2008. It covers four farms, namely Dongfeng Farm, Changjiang Farm, Qianjin farm and outpost farm, with a total area of 119.7 square kilometers. The permanent resident population of urban residents is 15142 (2017); There are six neighborhood committees in the town, including two in Dongfeng, two in Changjiang, and one in Qianjin and sentry.

Historical evolution

Dongping town was formerly known as Shanghai Dongping District Community Management Committee. Before that, it was also known as Shanghai Yangtze River District Community Management Committee. It was composed of two communities, the former Shanghai Yangtze River Farm and Qianjin farm. It was established with the approval of Shanghai Farm Administration Bureau in April 2001. It is also one of the first two pilot units within the bureau system to enter into the separation of government and enterprise.

On December 25, 2002, Shanghai Changjiang District Community Management Committee was renamed Shanghai Dongping District Community Management Committee with the approval of Shanghai Farm Administration Bureau.

On June 18, 2003, the former Dongfeng Farm Community in Shanghai was incorporated into the area under the jurisdiction of Shanghai Dongping District Community Management Committee in the process of merging and adjusting the farms (communities) under the jurisdiction of Shanghai Farm Management Bureau.

At the end of December 2004, the former Shanghai outpost farm community was incorporated into the regional management of Shanghai Dongping District Community Management Committee. So far, Shanghai Dongping District Community Management Committee has been established by four communities: Dongfeng Farm, Changjiang Farm, Qianjin farm and Qianshao farm.

Before the end of 2005, Shanghai Applied Science and technology school was under the management of Dongping community.

On July 24, 2008, with the approval of Guangming Food Group and Chongming County Party committee and government, Dongping community government affairs transfer group was established, which started the preliminary operation of government affairs transfer in Chongming state farm and incorporated into localized management.
