Gangxi town belongs to Chongming District of Shanghai. It is a combination of Gangxi town and Gangdong township. Historical evolution

Gangxi town is a combination of Gangxi town and Gangdong township.

Gangxi commune was founded in 1958.

From 1984 to 1987, the original systems of the East and west of Hong Kong were: the CPC Township Party committee, the Township People's government and the people's commune management committee. The government of Gangdong township is located in the north side of Chengbei Town, and the government of Gangxi township is located in the west side of sanshuang highway.

In April 1987, the people's commune system was terminated, but the party and government system remained unchanged.

On November 22, 1995, according to the municipal government's (1995) No. 56 document, Gangxi township was removed from the township and built into a town, Gangdong township. By December 2000, the township was built with 12 administrative villages.

On December 11, 2000, chongweifa (2000) No. 77 document, the former gangdongxiang Committee and gangdongxiang people's Government of the Communist Party of China, the former Gangxi Town Committee and Gangxi Town People's Government of the Communist Party of China were merged into Gangxi Town Committee and Gangxi Town People's Government of the Communist Party of China.
