Dongsheng, originally just the name of a small bridge on the edge of the old city. The bridge was named after the rising sun when it was laying its foundation. The location of the bridge is probably at the intersection of Shuangliu market and Chuanzang road. Its administrative village was also named Dongsheng Village because of the bridge.

In 1983, the county implemented the "separation of government and society", and the United commune was renamed Dongsheng township. In 1937, it was renamed Chengxiang Lianbao.
In the 29th year of the Republic of China (1940), it changed its name to central town and set up a town office.
