Sihe Township

Sihe township is one of the Yi inhabited townships in Xichang City. It is located in the aerial seeding forest area in the north of the suburb. The terrain is high in the north and low in the south. It slopes from north to south. The highest altitude in the township is 2600 meters, and the lowest altitude is 1650 meters.

Historical evolution

The people's Government of Sihe Township in Xichang City was formerly known as Sihe Township commune. Before December 1972, it belonged to the four brigades under the jurisdiction of Lizi commune in Xide County. In January 1973, it began to rectify the people's commune, separated from Lizi commune and established Sihe commune. In January 1980, with the approval of the State Council, it was incorporated into Yi commune directly under Xichang City, and was renamed township government in January 1984.

Sihe township is located in the suburb and the northern aerial seeding forest area. It is a typical Yi inhabited township. The township government is 2.5km away from the city center. The township is 30km long from north to South and 15-20km wide from east to west. It borders Xide County in the north and East, City District in the south, Anning, Xixiang and Xiaomiao Township in the West. The highest altitude in the township is 2600m, and the lowest altitude is 1650m . Among them, 1062 Mu are paddy fields, 7873 Mu are dry lands, 1.04 Mu are cultivated land per capita, and more than 30000 Mu are aerial seeding forests. The township governs five administrative villages and 20 villager groups, with 13288 people (2017). There are four primary schools in the township, with 1586 students and 69 teachers. The enrollment rate is 98% and the consolidation rate is 100%. There is a township health center with three doctors. There is a Sihe forest farm in the township area with 63 employees.
