Jintan Town
Jintan Town is located in the northwest of Qingxin District, Qingyuan City, Guangdong Province. It is adjacent to Jiulong Town, Yingde City in the East, urban area in the south, Guangning County in the West and Shitan town in the north. It is one of the first central towns planned in Guangdong Province. Jintan Town has a total area of 464 square kilometers (2017). As of 2010, it has 30 villages, 2 communities, 592 villager groups and a total population of 77881 (2017). Most of them are Han nationality, accounting for more than 99%. There are more than 70 surnames in the town, among which Chen, Feng and Huang are the most. Most of the residents use Qingyuan vernacular, which is similar to Guangzhou dialect, as their daily communication language, while a considerable number of residents speak Hakka.
Jintan Town is 56 km away from Qingxin city and 120 km away from Guangzhou city. Provincial highway 114, national highway G107 and Qinglian Expressway run through the town. The climate is a typical subtropical monsoon climate, with high temperature and rainy in summer and less rainfall in winter. The annual average temperature is 21.6 ℃, and the annual rainfall is 1774.7mm. In 2014, the total industrial and agricultural output value of the town reached 630.2 million yuan, an increase of 9.25% over 2013.

The origin of place names
Because there is a deep pool near the camp, and one of the stones looks like a dog, which is called immersion dog pool. Because of the sense of indecency, it became a common practice to dip into the pool. In the Jiajing period of the Ming Dynasty, people began to do business. In the Republic of China, it developed into a Polder, and the town was named because of the polder.
Evolution of administrative districts
In the Ming Dynasty, it belonged to Chishui Township, in the early Qing Dynasty, it belonged to Binshui Township, in the 14th year of Guangxu reign of Qing Dynasty, it belonged to Jintan Anliang sub Bureau, in the Republic of China, it belonged to Jintan township of Binjiang District, in 1950 it belonged to the seventh District, in 1951 it belonged to the 17th District, in 1955 it was changed to Jintan District, and in September 1957 it was withdrawn to establish township. The commune movement began in August 1958. In October of the same year, the upper reaches of the people's commune was established by the merger of Jintan and Shitan, and the Jintan people's commune was established in June 1959. In the winter of 1983, the commune was transformed into a district, and in 1986, the district was removed to build a town. On May 14, 2004, Taoyuan town was abolished and its administrative region was merged into Jintan Town.
