Xilian Township, belonging to Keshan County, Qiqihar City, Heilongjiang Province, is located in the west of Keshan County. It is connected with Xihe town in the East, Shangyou town in Yi'an County in the south, Tongnan town in Nehe city in the west, and Kaifa Township in the north. It is 51 kilometers away from the county, with a total administrative area of 166.79 square meters.
At the beginning of the Republic of China, Xilian township was subordinate to the first autonomous region of Keshan County. In March 1984, Xilian commune was transformed into Xilian township. By the end of 2018, the population of West Lian Township registered residence was 23971. In 2019, Xilian rural governs eight administrative villages.

History of construction
In the early days of the Republic of China, it was subordinate to the first autonomous region of Keshan County. In 1929, it was under the jurisdiction of the Fifth District of Keshan County. In 1931, the street village system was implemented. He Gong Village was established in 1938. He Gong district was established in 1946.
It was changed into Western Union District in 1949, and then into the 11th district.
In April 1956, Xida township was set up instead of regionalized township.
In August 1958, Xida Township and kuangouzi Township were merged and renamed Xida people's commune in September of the same year.
In March 1959, it was changed into Western Union commune.
In 1961, the Western Union commune set up the development commune.
In March 1984, Xilian commune was transformed into Xilian township.
