Yongping town
Yongping Town, subordinate to Yongshou County, Xianyang City, Shaanxi Province, is located in the northwest of the county. Yufeng village, where the township government is located, is 15.5 kilometers away from the county. It is adjacent to Quzi town in the East, Jianjun street in the south, Ganjing town across Moxi River in the west, cuimu town in Linyou County in the northwest and Taiyu Township in Bin County in the north. The longest is 19.8 km from north to south, and the widest is 12.6 km from east to west, with a total area of 163.45 square kilometers and a total resident population of 4528 (2017).
In the Qin Dynasty, the old county seat of Yongping town was called mating. In May 1949, the people's Government of Yongshou county set up Yongping District in the territory, which governs the old county and other townships. In January 1959, it was renamed Yongping people's commune. In June 1984, when the organization was reformed, Yongping commune was renamed Yongping town. In October 2001, Pingyao Township and dijiaogou Township were abolished and merged into Yongping town. Up to 2005, Yongping township was established. In 2011, Yongping township was removed and Yongping town was established. As of October 2019, Yongping town has jurisdiction over 11 administrative villages including Yonghe village and Yufeng village. The township government is located in Yufeng village.

Historical evolution
In the Qin Dynasty, the old county seat of Yongping town was called mating.
Yongshou county had been ruled for more than 650 years from 619 to 620, 1056 to 1063, 1278 to 1930. After the county government moved to Jianjun Town, it was called old county or old Yongshou.
In 1647, the county general shop and cellar (corner) shop were set up.
In 1791, there were three towns, namely jiuyongshou, faniu (3.3km north of the present town government, subordinate to Dongshan Village) and Dijiao (Jiao) Gou.
In 1930, the old Yongshou, Fubei and Pingyao joint insurance were set up in the territory.
In 1938, the old Yongshou and Pingyao joint insurance were merged into Yongping town.
In May 1949, the people's Government of Yongshou county set up Yongping District in the territory, which governs the old county and other townships.
In June 1952, dijiaogou Township and Pingyao Township were added.
In July 1953, dijiaogou Township and Pingyao Township were abolished and Su township was established.
In March 1956, Su's hometown was abolished and Pingyao Township and dijiaogou Township were re established.
In October 1958, urban and rural areas of Jiuxian County, Pingyao Township, dijiaogou Township and some villages of Haodian Township were merged to establish iron and steel people's commune.
In January 1959, it was renamed Yongping people's commune.
In September 1961, Pingyao and dijiaogou production management zones were established.
In June 1984, when the organization was reformed, Yongping commune was renamed Yongping town; Pingyao and dijiaogou production management zones were abolished, and Pingyao Township and dijiaogou Township were established respectively.
In October 2001, Pingyao Township and dijiaogou Township were abolished and merged into Yongping town.
Up to 2005, Yongping township was established.
In 2011, Yongping township was removed and Yongping town was established.

The geological structure of Yongping town experienced seawater immersion and crustal tremor during Cambrian and Ordovician, and seawater sediments formed gravel bearing mudstone, shale, slate and dolomite in tunnel face zone. With the uplift of platform in Late Ordovician, it appeared a gentle border and became land after Caledonian movement. During the Mesozoic Permian, continental clastic rocks and coal bearing deposits were formed, with gravel sandstone and iron ore beds in some places. Due to the influence of Maozhi movement, the land was further expanded and the Yanshan movement, the fault structure was relatively developed, the fault structure was formed, the fold was deepened, and the remnant fault was formed. In the Tertiary period of Cenozoic, the land was deposited, the sand gravel layer was developed in the early stage, the loess was accumulated in the middle stage, the eolian loess was widely distributed in the late stage, and finally the alluvium was formed, and the surface layer was mostly quaternary upper Pleistocene Loess. From south to north, there are Cambrian, Ordovician, Permian, Triassic, Jurassic and Cretaceous.

Yongping town is a gully region with complex terrain. Diaojiaogou in the north and mulingguan in the south are the places that soldiers often fight for. Taking yongshouliang as the axis, it inclines to the north and south, forming the topographic features of high in the middle and low in the north and south, and most of the areas are staggered. Heishan in the west is the highest, with an altitude of 1505m; shuangluyuan in the south is the lowest, with an altitude of 1124m.

History and culture
Original name
The old county seat of Yongping town was called mating since Qin Dynasty. Because "there is machigou in the south, where most hemp was retched in ancient times" (Tongzhi of Shaanxi Province), the pavilion was established in the township of Qin Dynasty, with a pavilion of 10 Li, so it was named mating.
Wuling Temple Pagoda
Wuling temple tower, located on Cuiping mountain in the southwest of the city, is the landmark of the former Wuling temple. It was built by Wang Xi of Pingyang in the Northern Wei Dynasty. In 1957, it was identified as the Tang tower by the Provincial Cultural Administration Commission, and in 1983, it was identified as the song tower when it was restored. The tower is 21.7M high and 6.3m in diameter at the base. The tower has 7 floors, 8 corners, brick wood structure and double eaves Pavilion style. Each floor has a bucket arch cornice, wind chime, round and square door. There are 4 arches on the second, fourth and sixth floors respectively. The two sides of the door are built into bars and carved with a variety of patterns, forming a beautiful Pavilion style. Inside the tower is a two meter square patio, with wooden stairs winding up to the top of the tower. The poem titled Wuling Temple written by Yang Yi of Ming Dynasty says: "the smoke from the top of the tower, the sound of the bell outside the Han Dynasty; the stone bed connecting the bamboo yard, but the dust atmosphere."
In June 2006, Wuling pagoda was declared the sixth by the State Council of the people's Republic of China
