The origin of place names
Hongyanhe town was formerly known as Donggang Town. Hongyanhe town got its name because Liaoning Hongyanhe Nuclear Power Station is located in the town. Liaoning Hongyanhe Nuclear Power Station was once named after a nearby island, Wentuozi. When the nuclear power project was restarted, the nuclear power builders felt that the name of Wentuozi was rustic, so they began to look for a reference place nearby. At this time, "Hongyanhe", a little-known River, came into people's view. Nuclear power builders felt that the name "Hongyanhe" was more beautiful and atmospheric, so they named the "Wentuozi" nuclear power project "Hongyanhe" and finally became an important symbol in the history of China's nuclear power.
