Yima Town, a town under the jurisdiction of Qingcheng County, Qingyang City, Gansu Province, is located in the southwest of Qingcheng county. It is connected with baimapu Township and Chicheng Township in the East, PENGYUAN Township and Wenquan township of Xifeng District in the south, across from yimengou and mijiachuan in the west, Heihe River in the southwest and Xinji township of Zhenyuan County, taibailiang Township in the west, Tongchuan Township and caijiamiao Township in the north. The administrative area is 273.5 square kilometers. By the end of 2018, 41932 of the population in yma town registered residence.
In January 1985, the township was removed to build a town. In August 2005, xiongjiamiao township was merged into Yima town. As of June 2020, Yima town has 19 administrative villages, 3 communities and 1 Management Committee of demonstration zone.

History of construction
In August 1949, Yima district was established.
In March 1956, it was changed to yimaguan township.
In January 1957, it was renamed Yima township.
In September 1959, it was changed into the post horse commune.
In May 1961, anjiasi and wurenzui commune were established.
In February 1965, xiongjiamiao commune was merged into Yima commune.
In May 1980, the xiongjiamiao commune was established.
In December 1983, Yima commune was transformed into a township.
In January 1985, the township was removed to build a town.
In August 2005, xiongjiamiao township was merged into Yima town.

Yima town is located in the middle and north part of the Loess Plateau in East Gansu, which belongs to the gully region of the Loess Plateau. The terrain is high in the north and low in the south. There are tableland, mountain and Sichuan in the territory. The tableland is fragmented, and the mountain area is rugged. The terrain of Sichuan is narrow and small, with an average altitude of 1290 meters. The highest point of houhouwa formation in Zhangqi village is 1425 meters above sea level; the lowest point of changgoukou formation is located in Zhaochuan formation in mijiachuan village, 1070 meters above sea level.
