Shanguang Township, subordinate to Zhongxian County, Chongqing City, is located in the southwest of Zhongxian County, at the West foot of Tianchi Forest Park, adjacent to Xinsheng street and Renjia town in the East, Qinglong Township in Fengdu County in the south, Bashan town in the West and Baishi town in the north. It is 21.5 km away from Zhongxian County Government, with a total area of 51 square kilometers.
At the end of Qing Dynasty, Shanguang township was a new township; in July 1983, it was changed from Shanguang commune to Shanguang township. By the end of 2018, the registered residence population of Shan Guang township was 15639. As of June 2020, Shanguang township has one community and seven administrative villages under its jurisdiction, and the Township People's government is stationed at No. 1 Shanguang square.

History of construction
In the late Qing Dynasty, it belonged to Xinxiang.
In 1913, Shanguang township was established. In 1935, Shanguang township was incorporated into Xinsheng united insurance. In 1941, Shanguang township was rebuilt.
In January 1953, Shanguang township was divided into four townships: Shanguang, Yutai, Guihua and Heilin.
In January 1956, Shanguang, Yutai, Guihua and Heilin were merged into Shanguang.
In June 1958, Shanguang township was changed into Shanguang commune.
In July 1983, Shanguang commune was transformed into Shanguang township.
