Pingshan is a Hakka settlement with the tradition of dancing Kirin. Since its establishment, Pingshan Kirin dance has a history of more than 100 years. In the 1920s and 1930s, Kirin dance activities became popular, and more than 30 Kirin museums were opened. The footprints of Kirin dance have been all over Danshui, Hong Kong and Dongguan, which can be said to be very popular. After the outbreak of the Anti Japanese War, with the turbulent years, Kirin dance activities gradually disappeared.
Since the reform and opening up, with the social stability and economic development of Pingshan, the Hakka Kirin dance brand of Pingshan has been built, and 19 Kirin teams have been established. Qilin Chengxiang, a Kirin dance brand created in 2004, has won many awards in competitions at all levels of the city and district, enjoying a certain reputation and popularity.
The Qilin dance in Pingshan is deeply influenced by the traditional folk culture of Han nationality and Confucianism and Taoism. It stresses the modest and gentleman style of respecting etiquette and literature, and the concept of cultivating one's morality, regulating the family, governing the country and governing the world. Pingshan Qilin dance steps are steady, sometimes ferocious and sometimes steady. The whole set of movements show the expressions of joy, anger, sadness, music, surprise, doubt, drunkenness and sleep. With the accompaniment of musical instruments and martial arts performance, it is highly entertaining and ornamental.

At that time, the two villages were at odds with each other, and the local rich Xu let them have a preconceived idea of building a new school and uniting the two villagers. This idea was supported by the people of the two villages. Xu Qizhuo, an overseas Chinese living in Hong Kong, provided six or seven mu of land as a site and brought back the design drawings of the school. Xu rangcheng donated one-third of the money, and the rest was paid by the rich families. After the completion of nanzhong school, it was named "nanzhong school" (later people used to call it "nanzhong school"). The two villagers can come to school together.
