Suburban township is an old place name under the jurisdiction of Wudalianchi city. Because the area under its jurisdiction is surrounded by the urban area, it is called suburban township. In September 1987, with the approval of the provincial government, urban and rural areas were separated and suburban rural areas were set up. The total area of the township is 27 square kilometers, with 35000 mu of arable land.

The economy is dominated by agriculture, and forestry, animal husbandry and industry are developing in an all-round way. At the end of 1992, Qingquan, Longquan and Linquan villages were under the jurisdiction of the township, with a total population of 5743, of which Mongolian, Manchu, Hui and other ethnic minorities accounted for about 6%. The township government is located in Qingquan village.
