Gaoqiao Town, belonging to Kaizhou District of Chongqing, is located in the north of Kaizhou District, adjacent to dunhao town and Zishui Township in the East, Tianhe town in the south, Tahe township of Xuanhan County in the West and Maliu Township in the north. In the late Qing Dynasty, Gaoqiao Town was called gaoshengchangjia; in August 1992, it was changed from Gaoqiao township to Gaoqiao Town. As of June 2020, Gaoqiao Town has jurisdiction over 2 communities and 10 administrative villages, and the town people's government is located in Shuangqiao community.

History of construction

At the end of Qing Dynasty, it was gaoshengchang Jia.

In 1930, it was changed to gaoshengchang township. In the 24th year of the Republic of China (1935), it was changed to gaoshengchang joint insurance. In 1940, it was changed to Gaosheng township.

In June 1958, Gaosheng township was changed into Gaosheng commune.

In July 1981, Gaosheng commune was renamed Gaoqiao commune.

In January 1984, Gaoqiao commune was changed into Gaoqiao township.

In August 1992, Gaoqiao township was changed into Gaoqiao Town, and Qili township was merged into Gaoqiao Town.
