Wanfu town

Wanfu town is located on the South Bank of the Qianhe river. Cihuai new river passes through the south of the town. It faces Heliu town and Xuwei Township across the Qianhe River in the north, Lanqiao Township in the East, Mengcheng County in the West and Panji District of Huainan City in the south. It is one of the gateways of Southwest Huaiyuan County and one of the first batch of 21 Characteristic Towns in Anhui Province. The town is 15.1 km long from east to west and 14.1 km wide from north to south, with a total area of 121.3 square kilometers (2017). The cultivated land area is 89793 mu, and the per capita cultivated land is 1.75 mu. The town Party committee and government are stationed in wanfuji.

Historical evolution

Wanfu has a long history. It is said that in the Ming Dynasty, there was a family surnamed Wan in Xiazhuang village on the South Bank of the Qianhe river. The family was very rich, charitable and famous in the countryside. The leader of the family was called "old man Fu". Wanjia set up stalls and shops at the west end of the village, and the business was booming. Many merchants were recruited to form a market town. Local people named the town wanfuji after Wanjia's surname and Fu, and it continued to develop.

Before withdrawing the district and merging the township, Wanfu town was the residence of Wanfu District Committee and Wanfu District Office of the CPC. The Wanfu District Committee governs the people's governments of the five townships of otang, Lanqiao, Wanfu, ganliu and Huihan, and 49 administrative villages. In March 1992, the county Party committee decided to merge Wanfu Township, ganliu Township and Huihan Township in Wanfu district to establish Wanfu town. The town Party committee and government are stationed in wanfuji.

Wanfu has a flat terrain, high in the South and low in the north. It belongs to the transition zone from north subtropical zone to warm temperate zone, and has the climate characteristics of South and North. It is a semi humid monsoon agricultural climate zone in warm temperate zone. The rainfall is moderate, gradually decreasing from southeast to northwest, with an average annual precipitation of about 900 mm. The interannual variation of precipitation is large, and the interannual variation of seasonal precipitation is more prominent. The annual average temperature is 15.6 ℃, the average frost free period is 219 days, and the sunshine is 2200 hours. The soil is mainly sandy black soil, which belongs to medium and low yield soil. According to the guideline of comprehensive management of paddy fields, forests and roads, it vigorously develops the basic construction of farmland water conservancy, creates the "Wanfu community" model, which is well-known both inside and outside the province, and is a banner of the county and even the whole city's farmland water conservancy work. Wanfu town built nine small irrigation stations along Qianhe River, including Mayuan, Wafang, Yangqiao, Jiuzhang, zhangliu, Xiangmu, zouzhuang, Yuzhuang and Xiazhuang, and eight irrigation stations along cihuai New River, including Lizhuang, Xiaoji, Zhuanqiao, chen'an, Jiwei, Huihan, wawang and Wangxiang, with 18 main canals of 40 km, total installed power of 2115 kW and designed irrigation area of 100000 mu.
