CaoShi town
CaoShi town is located 40 kilometers southeast of Heshui town in Hengdong County. It is located in the southwest of the intersection of Heshui River and yonglejiang river. It borders caihuaping town and Yatang town in you County in the East, Nanwan Township in the south, Yanglin Town in the West and Gaohu town in the north. Wunan highway and Hengyan highway pass through the territory. It is an important transportation hub connecting you County, Chaling County and Anren County. It is an important town in the Jishui River Basin and a distribution center of materials in the southeast of Hengdong County.
CaoShi town has a long history. In the Ming and Qing Dynasties, there was an inspection department, which was named after the inspection department and the lawn for military training. It was renamed CaoShi in 1853.
At the end of 2015, CaoShi town and Gaotang Township merged to establish a new CaoShi Town, which was established after the adjustment of township regional planning. The town covers an area of 143.93 square kilometers (2017), with 18 administrative villages and one neighborhood committee, and a population of 48595 (2017).

Historical evolution
CaoShi was called "rongkou" in ancient times. According to Li Daoyuan of the Northern Wei Dynasty's notes to the water classics, Rongshui flows from houtanshan to rongkou and flows into it. Hou Tanshan is at the junction of Anren and Leiyang. Now it is still called Hou Tanshan. There is only one river from Anren to Jishui. Rongshui is the ancient name of Yongle river. It can be inferred that rongkou is the ancient name of CaoShi. According to historical records and Hanshu, in the sixth year of Yuanguang (129 BC), Emperor Wu of the Han Dynasty divided Liu Fu, the son of King Ding of Changsha, into rongling Marquis and established rongling Marquis state, with the capital in rongkou. In the fifth year of Yuanding (112 BC), rongling Marquis was abolished. The Marquis state of rongling was changed into rongling County, and rongkou was set up in the county. Rongling county was abolished during the Huangwu period (222-229 A.D.). Rongkou has been the capital and county of Hou state for about 350 years. Rongkouhou belongs to Yinshan county. Yinshan county was abolished in the first year of Tang Zhenguan (AD 627), and then rongkou belonged to Hengshan County. According to the records of the 25 years of Jiajing in Daming Huidian, the inspection department of CaoShi in Hengshan County was set up in that year (1546 AD). CaoShi town is an important town in the river basin. In the Ming and Qing Dynasties, there was a patrol department, named CaoShi after the patrol department and the lawn for military training. It was renamed CaoShi in the third year of Xianfeng in the Qing Dynasty (AD 1853). The inspection department of CaoShi was abolished before the revolution of 1911. In Ming Dynasty, CaoShi area belonged to yongpingli, xingle Township, Hengshan County. In the 43rd year of Kangxi reign (1704), the jiabian district was abandoned, and the 16li square in Hengshan County was adapted into 17 characters, 437 districts. At present, most of CaoShi towns belong to some areas of Mengzi and Zuozi. in the 35th year of the Republic of China, CaoShi Town, Gaotang Township and Nanwan Township belong to Nanshi township. In July 1949, the Fourth District People's government and the fourth division committee of the Communist Party of China moved from Gaohu to CaoShi. In 1950, seven districts were set up in Hengshan County, and the fourth district was set up in CaoShi. In 1952, Hengdong County adjusted the township organizations, and the District People's government was changed into the district office. In June 1954, eight formations of pengjiayuan were put under the jurisdiction of Xiaohe Township, CaoShi District, Hengshan County. In 1958, the people's commune was established. CaoShi changed its name to Liaoyuan people's commune, and then changed back to CaoShi people's commune. In August 1961, the district office moved from CaoShi to Yanglin. However, the District run CaoShi middle school and the District run CaoShi hospital (now known as the Fourth People's Hospital of Hengdong County) are still located in CaoShi. In 1966, the State Council decided to establish Hengdong County, and CaoShi commune was under the jurisdiction of Yanglin District of Hengdong County. In 1982, the people's commune was abolished and divided into CaoShi town and Xiping township. Located on the North Bank of Yongle River in xiancaoshi Town, Xiping Township includes xianxiping village, Tianxin village and Hengling. In 1989, when the district was withdrawn and the township was merged, CaoShi town and Jiping Township were merged again to establish CaoShi town. in the administrative division adjustment in December 2015, CaoShi town was merged with Gaotang Township in the south. In 2016, Gaotang township was incorporated into CaoShi town.

CaoShi ancient town

CaoShi Lingshan
