Yushu township is under the jurisdiction of Bayan County. It is located in the northwest of the county, on the left bank of Nihe River, adjacent to Hulan County in the South and Suihua City in the northwest. The township government is 75 kilometers away from the county seat.

The township government is 75 kilometers away from the county seat. Yushu township is named after xiaoyushu village in the West. Originally belonging to Xinglong District of Bayan County, it was changed into the 11th district in 1950. In March 1956, Fengnong township was set up. In July 1958, Fengnong township was abolished and merged into Yuguo Township, which was renamed Yushu township. In September of the same year, it was renamed Yushu people's commune, and in November it was merged into Xinglong commune. In April 1959, Yushu commune was set up from Xinglong commune. In March 1962, part of the production brigade was assigned to Hongguang commune. In February 1984, it was changed to Yushu township.
Economic situation
Yushu Township borders on Nihe River and belongs to plain area. The township covers a total area of 106 square kilometers, with 111000 mu of arable land, mainly for food crops. In 1992, the total output value of township enterprises was 26.9 million yuan. The township governs 13 villages, including Fengnong, Toyota, Fengquan, Fengyou, Xinghua, welfare, Yushu, Aiguo, Xinchun, Xianfeng, Xinfu, Liangzhong and Shiyang. At the end of 1992, the total population of the township was 21000, with Hui, Manchu and Mongolian minorities. The township government is located in shijiawopu, Xinfu village. the main crops are corn, soybean, sorghum, millet, rice, etc. In 1949, the grain output was 150-200 Jin. With the development of social productive forces, especially after the Third Plenary Session of the Eleventh Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, farmers have the autonomy to cultivate land, and the average grain yield per mu has reached more than 500 Jin. Township run industry began in 1957. At that time, there was only one iron wood factory, which produced sickles, hoes, horseshoe nails and daily wood products. After the Third Plenary Session of the Eleventh Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, township run industries developed rapidly. By the end of 1985, there were 7 enterprises, 5 village run enterprises, 24 joint enterprises, and 2014 employees, accounting for 15% of the rural labor force. The total industrial output value of the whole year was 820000 yuan. Yushu Township boiler factory and arts and crafts factory produce boilers, mahjong brand and other products, low price and high quality, sell well inside and outside the province.
