Longtan town
Longtan town is located at the junction of Henan and Hubei provinces, 32 kilometers southwest of Tanghe County. It is adjacent to Huyang town in the East, Cangtai town in the west, guotan town and Heilong town in the north, and Zaoyang City in Hubei Province in the south. Longtan town covers an area of 98 square kilometers, with 92000 mu of arable land, 36586 people (in 2017), 21 administrative villages, 118 natural villages and 282 villager groups. It is a typical plain agricultural town. In 2006, the gross domestic product of the town was 309 million yuan, the fiscal revenue was 3.597 million yuan, and the per capita net income of farmers was 3910 yuan. The natural growth rate of population is 4.6 ‰.
Origin of town name
Longtan Town, also known as Han Longtan, formerly known as Huangjiazhuang. According to the inscription of rebuilding grandma temple in 1369, the second year of Hongwu in Ming Dynasty, "Han Longtan, an ancient town of Tang Yi, began in Huang Dynasty and flourished in long Dynasty. The dragon is the water, and the flood comes. Only here can he draw water. He who draws water is the dry dragon, so he worships the name of ear. " It is still in use today.
Historical evolution
In the Ming and Qing Dynasties, it belonged to zhaohebao (now Zhaohe village, Longtan town). In 1913, it belonged to Jiyuan county. In 1921, Longtan Township was established, belonging to Huyang district. In 1923, it belonged to Huyang District of Tanghe County. In 1941, Longtan Lianbao was set up, belonging to Huyang district. It was liberated in December 1947 and belongs to the Fourth District of Tangnan county (the patriotic and democratic government is stationed in Qiyi) (the district office is stationed in Longtan). In May 1949, it was incorporated into Tanghe County, belonging to the ninth district (in Longtan). In September 1955, Longtan District was withdrawn, belonging to Huyang district. In February 1956, the district was withdrawn and Longtan Central Township was set up. In December 1956, the restored area still belonged to Huyang District, and the Central Township was changed to general township. In October 1958, it belonged to Huyang people's commune. In May 1961, it belonged to Huyang District, with three small communes, Longtan, wangcaofeng and Yangmiao. In May 1963, Yangmiao commune was withdrawn, and two people's communes, Longtan and wangcaofeng, were set up in its territory, still belonging to Huyang district. Longtan town has suitable climate, flat terrain and fertile soil, which is suitable for the growth of a variety of crops. On the tributaries of Zhongxu village, Hanzhuang and beiliao River in the town, there is a section of liubaji and a canal in the north and south, which is the Hanlong site of the water conservancy project in the Han Dynasty.
