Liberated area is under the jurisdiction of Jiaozuo City, Henan Province, located in the northwest of Henan Province, the southern foot of Taihang Mountain. The geographical center coordinates are 113 ° 14 ′ E and 35 ° 12 ′ n. In the East, Qunying river is adjacent to Shanyang District, in the west, Tianjian village and Chunlin village of shangbaizuo township are connected with zhongzhan District, in the south, Fengshou road is connected with Liwan township of Xiuwu County in the south, and in the north, the shallow mountain area at the south foot of Taihang Mountain is connected with Xiuwu County and zhongzhan district respectively. It is 15.05 km long from north to South and 8.08 km wide from east to west, with a total area of 61.72 square kilometers, of which the urban area is 20.5 square kilometers.
By 2011, the liberated area had 9 streets, 19 administrative villages and 32 communities. With a total population of 293000, mainly Han nationality, there are 16 ethnic minorities including Hui, Manchu, Mongolian, Zhuang, Korean, etc.

Historical evolution
On September 8, 1945, after the first liberation of Jiaozuo, Jiaozuo City was established by dividing Xiuwu and Boai counties into one, two and three districts.
At the end of November 1945, the first and second districts were combined into the inner district (the predecessor of the liberated District).
In February 1948, Jiaozuo City was changed into Jiaozuo County, and its inner district was changed into the first district.
In October 1948, Jiaozuo was liberated for the second time and the inner District of the city was restored.
On October 15, 1949, Jiaozuo county was changed into Jiaozuo mining area, which was under the leadership of the mining area.
In June 1953, the inner District of the city was changed into Jiaozuo town.
On August 25, 1956, Jiaozuo mining area was changed into Jiaozuo City and Jiaozuo town into Jiaozuo district.
On December 3, 1957, Jiaozuo district was changed into an urban area.
On August 27, 1958, it changed its name to liberated area (named after the district office located on Jiefang Road).
On October 20, 1958, it was changed into the people's Liberation commune.

The liberated area is located at the junction of Taihang Mountains and Northern Henan Plain. Most of the area is piedmont alluvial proluvial plain. Some gullies and valleys are cut. The southern part is the edge of alluvial fan, and the terrain is flat.

mineral resources
Up to 2000, the main mineral resources in the liberated area are coal, refractory clay, limestone, building stone, iron ore, bauxite and brick clay. Jiaonan mine field is the main coal storage area, with proven reserves of 146.16 million tons and maximum buried depth of 1200 meters. The main minable coal seam is 0.7-13 meters thick, with an average of 6.2 meters. It belongs to medium ash and low sulfur anthracite. The industrial analysis results show that the ash content is 17.92%, volatile content is 7.53%, sulfur content is 0.33%, and calorific value is 6.702 kcal / T. Iron ore, refractory clay and bauxite are mainly distributed in the area from hongshaling to Hong (Heng) he, and the reserves are not much, only some civilian mining sites.

As of 2000, there were more than 190 kinds of wild animals in the liberated areas, including macaques, leopards, tigers, roe deer, Swertia deer, foxes and Qingyang, of which more than 20 are rare animals under state protection.

As of 2000, there were 875 species of woody plants in 143 families and 469 species of herbaceous plants in 69 families in the liberated areas. Taxus chinensis, Lianxiang tree, Shanbai tree, Ginkgo biloba, Eucommia ulmoides, Pterocarpus tatarinowii, etc. were rare tree species under state protection. The main food crops were wheat, corn, rice, and the main economic crops were peanut, cotton, soybean, Huaiyao, etc.
