Historical evolution

In the late Qing Dynasty, it belonged to Yilan Prefecture.

In 1927, it was called shuanghebao.

In 1932, it was transferred to Boli County.

In 1933, it was transferred to Yilan and changed to Shuanghe town.

In 1946, it was transferred to Boli County.

In January 1947, Shuanghe county was established, and Shuanghe town was the county seat.

In March 1948, it was transferred to Boli County and changed into Shuanghe district.

In September 1958, Shuanghe commune was changed.

In 1983, the commune was transformed into a township.

Shuanghe town is located in the end of Wandashan mountain system. The west part of Shuanghe town belongs to hilly area with undulating terrain. The east part belongs to woken River Basin, a tributary of Songhua River, with gentle terrain and an average altitude of 100-400 meters.
