Historical evolution

It got its name from the old Chaoyang hall.

It belonged to Cai's hometown in 1949 and merged into Lingxi Township in 1950. Chaoyang commune was established in 1958, and the township was changed in 1984.

In May 1993, Shangrao County was transferred to Shangrao City.

In 1997, it covers an area of 67 square kilometers and has a population of 32000.
