Longxi town

Longxi Town, subordinate to Wushan County of Chongqing, is located in the northwest of Wushan County, bordering Wuxi Huatai in the East, Dachang Town in the south, Futian Town in the west, Fengjie County in the north, 91 kilometers away from the government of Wushan County, with a total area of 74.4 square kilometers.

In the late Qing Dynasty, Longxi town was called Longxi fort; in April 1992, it was changed from Longxi commune to Longxi town. By the end of 2018, the registered residence population of Longxi town was 25689. As of June 2020, Longxi town has one community and 13 administrative villages under its jurisdiction, and the people's Government of Longxi town is located in the community.

History of construction

Longxi town is named for its river Longxi.

In the late Qing Dynasty, it was called Longxi fort.

In 1943, Longxi township was established.

In April 1953, when the township was established, Shuanghe township was added from Longxi township; in September of the same year, Shuanghe township was divided into two townships, Er'an and Tiechang, and Longxi into two townships, Shimen and Jinyin.

In March 1955, Shuanghe was merged into Longxi, and the iron works was merged into Er'an, under the jurisdiction of Dachang District.

In 1956, Er'an was incorporated into Longxi township.

In April 1958, the two townships of Jinyin Longxi were merged to form Longxi commune, which was subordinate to Dachang District.

In July 1961, Longxi commune established Jinyin commune.

In April 1992, Longxi commune was changed into Longxi town.
