Wolong Town, Xiangyang City, Hubei Province, formerly known as nizui Town, also known as nizui town by local people.

Evolution of organizational system

In ancient times, it was formed by alluvial silt of Hanjiang river course, which was called nizui or sometimes nizui. Before 2001, it was the original Xiangyang County.

Xiangfan City was founded in 1983. Because it is close to the urban area and because of the economic development of the urban area, the areas under its jurisdiction have made continuous adjustments and changes to supplement the development needs.

In December 2001, with the development of Xiangfan City, Xiangyang County changed from county to district. The counties under its jurisdiction were adjusted at the same time. Among them, nizui Town, Oumiao town and Xinji Town (township) of Xiangyang County were put under the jurisdiction of Xiangcheng District.

In March 2002, the people's Government of Xiangcheng District submitted to the people's Government of Xiangfan City the request to change the name of nizui town to Wolong Town. On November 11, 2003, the people's Government of Hubei Province approved and agreed to change the name of nizui town to Wolong Town. At the same time, new market towns (townships) were merged, and Wolong Town was under the jurisdiction of two towns.

The territory covers an area of 282.85 square kilometers (2017), with cultivated land area of 82000 mu, mountain forest area of 136000 Mu and beach area of 40000 mu. Wolong Town in Xiangcheng District is located on the South Bank of Hanjiang River, at the north foot of Longzhong mountain, ten kilometers to the west of Xiangyang City. Its name comes from a mud mouth formed by silt accumulation in the northbound diversion of the Han River. Later, it gradually developed into a small market town, which is called "mud mouth".

The area under the jurisdiction of nizui is rich in landforms, with obvious mountain and plain landforms. The core area under the jurisdiction of the town is located in the core area of Gulongzhong, a national famous scenic spot in Xiangyang City. Zhuge Kongming once worked hard here and called it "Wolong". Therefore, it was renamed Wolong Town, which is more in line with the rich historical background of the area. The western region is mainly mountainous and hilly area, which is the residual vein of Daba Mountain in Qinling Mountains, adjacent to Nanzhang county and Gucheng County, with rich mountain forest resources. Due to the special environment, there are abundant karst caves, especially jiutianniangniang cave. Huilong Temple, Baima temple and Guyin temple are scattered in the vast mountain forest like pearls. The town now has Wolong office, Wolong neighborhood committee, Wolong street, Wolong pit and nearly 50 beautiful legends about Wolong.

location advantage

The town has obvious advantages in transportation area. National highway S303 (Xianggu Road) runs through the whole town. After continuous construction and upgrading, it is now an important channel for the west to enter and leave Xiangyang City. With the development of the ecological economic tourism circle in Western Hubei, it has gradually become an important link for the tourism of the Three Kingdoms and the golden tourism economic belt of Wudang Mountain.

Xiangjing Expressway (ER Guang Expressway) passes through from north to south, connecting with the national expressway network and reaching the whole country.

With the rapid development of Railways in the central and western regions of China, the development of Wolong Town Railway has entered a new historical period, and there is no railway transit in the original area. Wuxiang No.10 high-speed railway (Wuxi high-speed railway), with a design speed of 350km / h, passes through the southern mountainous area from east to west, and a overtaking station is set up. Forestry

There are 140000 mu of mountain forest in the town, and now more than 170 companies, groups and private owners participate in the development of the town's forestry. From 2003 to 2004, 14000 mu of beach afforestation, 5400 mu of returning farmland to forest, 8000 mu of afforestation, more than 300000 trees on the four sides, and three green channels, with a total length of 31 km, were built, and the output value in two years was 12.05 million yuan and 14.27 million yuan respectively.

Travel

It is in the initial stage of development, with Gulongzhong scenic area as the core tourism area. Since the beginning of the new century, with the increasing investment of Xiangyang municipal Party committee and government, the domestic tourism resources have also been initially developed.
