Historical evolution

Wan'an town was established in 2001 by merging zuojiagou Township, shuangchang Township and Wan'an town. In 1958, Wan'an commune included zuojiagou commune. In the winter of 1961, it was separated from zuojiagou commune, and it was transformed into a town in April 1984. It was the organizational system of the town long ago. Historically, it was the Sixth District of Hongdong county and the residence of Wan'an township government.

The Sanjiao river flows into the town from the West and into the Fenhe River from the East through Xincun township.
