Gucheng Street
Gucheng street, belonging to Gaochun District of Nanjing City, is located in the middle of Gaochun district. S269 passes through the north and south, S360 passes through the East and West, and S55 ningxuan Expressway passes through the South and North with entrances and exits. The waterway is directly connected to Suzhou, Wuxi and Changzhou, and the water and land transportation is very convenient. There is a production base of Gaochun ceramics.

Historical evolution
Gucheng ancient town is located in the East Bank of Gucheng Lake, Gaochun District, Nanjing city. The settlement is irregular rectangle. Gucheng has a long history. As far back as the Neolithic period, it was inhabited by human beings, as evidenced by the chaoduntou site.
In the spring and Autumn period, in 541 B.C., King Jingwang of Zhou built LaiZhu city on the Bank of Laishui. Today, it is commonly known as "ziluo city". It is built with solid earth walls and is known as "solid as gold". It is 208 years earlier than Jinling City. It can be called the first ancient city in Nanjing and later occupied by Chu.
In the 10th year of King Jing of Zhou Dynasty (535 BC), King Ling of Chu attacked Wu and captured Gucheng. Later, King Ping of Chu took Gucheng as his capital and built a palace. Gucheng, also known as "King City of Chu" and commonly known as "ziluo city", was a strategic place for Wu and Chu's fierce troops.
Gucheng in Qin Dynasty belonged to Liyang county.
Liyang county was governed by Han Dynasty.
In 1491, Gaochun County was separated from Lishui County, and Gucheng town was subordinate to Gaochun County.
In 1949, urban areas were consolidated, urban and rural areas were consolidated in 1957, communes were consolidated in 1958, and townships were consolidated in 1983.
In November 1989, Gucheng city changed from township to town.

In December 1999, Caotang township was abolished and merged into Gucheng town.
In 2003, it governed 1 community in Gucheng town and 17 administrative villages in Gucheng, Shuanggang, Shuangquan, Youshan, Miaogong, Chanlin, Zhenxing, Shuguang, Qiaotou, Jiangshan, Hualian, Caotang, Jiulong, Qianjin, Sanlong, Huamiao and Yibao.

Gucheng street has rich cultural heritage. Gucheng Lake is located in the southeast of Gaochun district. It is called Xiaonanhu because it is close to Gucheng in ancient times. It is an inner lake in Gaochun District, with an existing area of 30.9 square kilometers and a triangular shape. The predecessor of the lake was originally a lagoon on the seashore. Coral fossils of that time can be found and collected on the limestone in the east of the lake and Huashan Area, which was called Danyang daze in ancient times. After years of river sediment accumulation, there were many lakes and beaches; after generations of reclamation, daze was divided into three lakes: Danyang, Shijiu and Gucheng. Among them, Gucheng Lake is the only one owned by Gaochun, with pure water quality and rich aquatic products, which has the reputation of "sunrise fighting gold". There are Huashan in the East, Jiulongshan in the west, yongfengwei and xiangguowei in the West. The lake is clear, rippling and beautiful. "Gucheng Yanyu" has always been a scenic spot of Gaochun, which has attracted the praise of scholars and poets of all ages. Cui Zhiyuan, a famous scholar and poet of Silla state (now South Korea) in Tang Dynasty, once made a special trip here and stayed in Zhaoxian post house by the lake. Fan Chengda, a famous poet in Southern Song Dynasty, also went boating in this lake, and left a lot of poems. Gucheng Lake is also an important part of Xu River, the first man-made canal in the world. During the spring and Autumn period and Warring States period, Wu and Chu fought against each other. In order to transport grain and troops, Wu Zixu, the general of Wu state, excavated the canal, starting from Gaochun, passing through Liyang, Yixing and Wuxi to Suzhou, and finally into Taihu Lake. Gucheng site on the South Bank of Gucheng Lake is one of the earliest cities in Nanjing. It's more than 200 years earlier than the stone city in Nanjing.
