Weicheng town

Weicheng town is located in the central hinterland of Youxian District, 15 kilometers away from the urban area of China Science and Technology City (Mianyang) and 17 kilometers away from the urban area of wenchangdi township (Zitong). No. 97 (Jiannan market Weicheng town) is directly accessible by bus. Covering an area of 84.9 square kilometers, the town governs 28 administrative villages, 4 community neighborhood committees and 213 villager groups. The total population of the town is 38213 (2017). The town borders eight towns (townships), namely Xianhai, Shiban, Dongxuan, Xujia, Taiping, Bailin, Zhongxing and Xinqiao. Mianzi road and Xiaoyong Road pass through the territory with convenient transportation. The Weiliu river with abundant water resources flows through the whole town. The town covers an area of 1.7 square kilometers, with complete urban base facilities. Now there are 21 streets, 5 professional markets and more than 1100 shops. It has been awarded the honorary titles of "national demonstration town of small town construction", "national civilized town", "national advanced town of village and town construction" by the Ministry of construction and the Central Committee of civilization. After the May 12 earthquake, Weicheng town was included in six key towns of Mianyang City.

On December 25, 2019, Sichuan Provincial People's Government approved the adjustment of administrative divisions of some towns and townships in Mianyang City (cfzm [2019] No. 27): Xujia town and Dongxuan town were abolished and their administrative areas were put under the jurisdiction of Weicheng town. Weicheng Town Junior High School in Youxian district is a brand new school with a glorious history. Weicheng has a long history

Weicheng was the only way from Xishu to Chang'an and Xianghan in ancient times. It was one of the important portals for Mianyang to go north.
