Shimen town
Shimen Town, a town under the jurisdiction of Antu County, Yanbian Korean Autonomous Prefecture, Jilin Province, is located in the north-east of Antu County, bordering Sandaowan town and Chaoyang town of Yanji City in the East, laodigou town and West town of Helong city in the south, and Mingyue Town in the West and North, with an administrative area of 322.29 square kilometers.
In the third year of Xuantong of Qing Dynasty (1911), it belonged to the third district of Yanji County; in 1984, Shimen township was transformed into a town. By the end of 2018, the number of registered residence in Shimen town was 7648. As of June 2020, Shimen town has one community and nine administrative villages.
In 2011, the total financial revenue of Shimen town was 13 million yuan, an increase of 30% over the previous year. Among them, the local fiscal revenue was 1.8 million yuan, an increase of 28% over the previous year. In 2018, Shimen town has 6 industrial enterprises and 1 comprehensive store or supermarket with a business area of more than 50 square meters.
History of construction
In 1911, it was the third district of Yanji county.
In 1934, it belonged to Shimen village, Yanji county.
In May 1948, it belonged to Shimen District of Yanji county.
In 1956, Shimen township was established.
In 1958, Shimen township was transformed into a commune; in November of the same year, it was transferred to Antu County.
In 1983, Shimen commune was transformed into a township.
In 1984, Shimen township was transformed into a town.

Shimen town is located in the middle and low mountain area of Changbai Mountain, north foot of Changbai Mountain, high in Northeast and southwest, low in central. Most of the terrain is Valley, inclining from northwest to Southeast. The ground is generally 500-800 meters above sea level. The main mountains are tonglinling and yingerling. Tianbaoshan, the highest peak in the territory, is located at the junction of yulongjing and Helong in the south, with an altitude of 1074 meters; buehatong estuary, the lowest point, is located at yushuchuan village, with an altitude of 283 meters.

The river course in Shimen town belongs to Tumen River Basin. The main river is Buerhatong River, which flows from Mingyue Town to the middle of the territory from northwest to Southeast. The river in Shimen town is 20 kilometers long, with a drainage area of 325 square kilometers and an average annual flow of 3650 cubic meters per second. The main tributaries are Nanliu River and Zhongping river. Nanliu River originates from the northern part of Tianbao, with a length of 14 kilometers and a ponding area of 918 square kilometers. Zhongping river originates from the west of tonglinling, with a length of 13.4 km and a drainage area of 93.8 square kilometers.

The main natural disasters in Shimen town are hail, drought, flood, strong wind, low temperature, frost and so on. The average flood occurred once a year, mainly from July to September. The most serious one occurred on July 28, 2010, involving yushuchuan, Chongshan, Jingcheng, chatiao, Xinfeng and other villages. The affected area reached 300 hectares, 75 houses were damaged, and the direct economic loss was 1.25 million yuan.

Limestone, basalt, potash feldspar, wollastonite and iron have been found in Shimen town. They are mainly distributed in Nanliu, Chongshan and Longxing. Ornamental plants include Hypericum. The main wild animals are foxes, rabbits, squirrels, weasels, ferrets, pheasants, green winged ducks, goshawks, magpies, sparrows, snakes, forest frogs, etc.
