Xincheng Town, Yuanqu County, Shanxi Province, was founded in 1960. It is located in the northwest of Yuanqu County and is the seat of the county government. In the territory of rolling mountains, rivers, rich mineral resources, roads crisscross, scattered, beautiful natural scenery.

The town covers an area of 98 square kilometers, with 15 villages, 86 villager groups, 5 community neighborhood committees, 78388 permanent residents (in 2017), 13470 mu of arable land and 2274 yuan of per capita income at the end of 2008. There are birdsong stream waterfall, temple Geda mountain and other attractions.

Historical evolution

The new town was founded in 1960, formerly known as liuzhang production management area under the jurisdiction of Gaoluo people's commune. In 1960, Gaoluo people's commune was designated as urban people's commune. In 1965, it was renamed Shangwang people's commune, and a new town people's Committee was set up. Shangwang people's commune has jurisdiction over 6 production teams. In 1979, the rural responsibility system changed into 12 production teams. In 1982, Shangwang people's commune was renamed Xincheng people's commune. In 1984, it merged with Xincheng people's Committee and named Xincheng. After 2000, it accepted 3 resettlement villages of Xiaolangdi reservoir, namely Guanjia village, Anwo village and zhaojialing village Liu Zhangcun.

geographical environment

Xincheng town is located in the middle of Zhongtiao Mountain. It is surrounded by mountains in the north and West, and faces Gaoluo in the south. The hilly terrain is undulating and uneven. The whole terrain is multi strip distribution. The cultivated land is mainly terraced fields, which are concentrated in the East and south, and the Hetao and slope ridge on both sides of Wulonggou River, Baijian River and BoQing river. The main peaks are Yuangu mountain (also known as Yuantou mountain), which is located at the junction of the north end and Jiangxian County, with an altitude of 1665.6 meters; camel peak (also known as gecha mountain), which is located at the north end of the town, with an altitude of 1571.7 meters. There are two main peaks on it, which are similar to camel hump, so it is named. Shilong mountain, 868.5 meters above sea level, stretches between Washe, zuojiawan and liuzhang. It looks like a giant dragon, so it is called Shilong mountain. Tiegu mountain, 724 meters above sea level, is located at the junction of Shangguan and Xifeng mountain. It contains iron ore. in 1958, iron and steel was refined, so it is also called iron mine. (1) Boqing River, which originates at the foot of Henglingguan mountain in Jiangxian county and flows through Shangguan and Qingyuan of our town, is called Shiba River in our town, with a flow of 7 km and an irrigation area of 30 hectares. (2) Baijian River, which originates from Tongkuangyu, flows through Xiling, Houhe, Moao, xiagudui, Xihe, Jianjiao and around the county town. It flows through Shangwang, Xiasi and Podi and into BoQing river at anziling, Qingyuan, with a flow of 14.9 km. (3) Wulonggou river originates from dianzigou, Wulonggou and Angou of Washe village. It meets at Bayi Reservoir, flows through zuojiawan, and flows into Baijian river at Houhe of gudui, with a flow of 8.6 km. (4) longyugou river originates from longyugou of Dongfeng mountain, flows through Dongfeng mountain, Shangwang and Xiasi, and flows into Baijian River, with a flow of 9 km and abundant water. the town has developed transportation, and all villages have been connected with oil (cement) roads. The provincial trunk line Hengji line and Wenyuan Road pass through the town. The Wenyuan Expressway under construction crosses 6 villages (Qingyuan, Xiasi, Podi, Shangwang, xifengshan and Shangguan) for 7 km.

In terms of industrial development, relying on superior geographical advantages and focusing on optimizing the development environment, the private economy is developing rapidly. Zhongyi Mining Co., Ltd., with an investment of 8.15 million yuan, Futai barium sulfate Co., Ltd., with an investment of 5 million yuan, and Shangguan Yongxin iron concentrator with an investment of 9.6 million yuan, have settled in the new town, solving the employment problem of 260 rural surplus labor. The annual net income of the deer farm built in zuojiawan village is nearly 100000 yuan, which greatly increases the income of the villagers.

The local culture is rich. Podi stilts and gudui gongs and drums have been declared as intangible cultural heritage of the province. Scenic Spots and Historical Sites

1. Kuixing building. Located in front of the cliff of Shangwang village, it was built in the Ming Dynasty, with a height of three feet and four square cobble masonry. 2. Aunt nunnery. Located in liuzhang village, it was built in Ming Dynasty. 3. Yunfo Temple site, located in the north of gudui village, under camel peak, was rebuilt in 1498. 4. The stage of the Republic of China. Located in Dongfengshan village, it was moved and built in 1937. It is well preserved. 5. Birdsong stream. Located in the north mountain of gudui village, it is a tourist attraction of the county. 6. Ancient ginkgo trees. It is located in the east of liuzhang village and beside Xinwang highway. It is several feet high and is surrounded by three people.

New rural construction

Among the ten key villages for new rural construction, Anwo village is a model village, Shangwang village, liuzhang village and Podi village are governance villages, Shangguan village, Qingyuan village, Guanjia village, zuojiawan village, Xiasi village and zhaojialing village are promotion villages. In recent years, all villages in the town have formulated two plans for the construction and development of new countryside, each with its own characteristics. Anwo village has invested more than 100000 yuan in the construction of controlled atmosphere storage, and the cultural activity center with an investment of more than one million yuan is under construction. Shangwang village invested 400000 yuan to build two cultural courtyards, invested 20000 yuan to set up 36 lamps, planted 300 tapai trees, and implemented lighting and greening; Qingyuan village invested more than 200000 yuan in the cultural activity center. Transportation

The traffic in the new town is convenient and developed, including Liyuan railway, Wenyuan expressway, WangHeng highway, Wenyuan highway, East Ring Road, West Ring Road. The exit of Wenyuan expressway is in shangao of xifengshan village, Wenyuan highway passes Shangwang, xifengshan and Shangguan village, WangHeng highway passes Qingyuan, Xiasi, Shangwang and xifengshan village. All villager groups in the town are connected with cement roads, with a mileage of 265 km.
