Historical evolution
Qiman, Uyghur, means green grassland. A long time ago, it was a Gobi wasteland. In the late Ming and early Qing Dynasties, some farmers and herdsmen from Kuche Wuqia, wuzun, yixihala and Shaya counties came here to reclaim land and gradually formed villages. It turns the Gobi into an orchard with luxuriant flowers and plants, hence the name.
