Tatar Township
Tatar township is a township level administrative unit under the jurisdiction of Qitai County, Changji Hui Autonomous Prefecture, Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. Tatar Township, founded in July 1989, is the only Tatar Township in China so far. 303 provincial road passes through the countryside, connecting with the 108th regiment of the Sixth Agricultural Division in the East, Dongwan town in the south to the northwest of the east side of the Tianshan Mountains, jimusar County in the west, and the korbantunggut desert in the north. The township government is 23 kilometers east of the county, with a total population of 4266 (2017), belonging to eight ethnic groups, namely Tatar, Kazak, Han, Uygur, Hui and Mongolian.
History of construction
Tatar Township in Qitai County has formed primitive villages in the Neolithic age, with human activities. Neolithic cultural relics such as red pottery, stone wheel, stone mill and stone hoe have been unearthed in the inland of Qitai County. Before emperor Wu of the Western Han Dynasty, it belonged to cheshihou state, one of the 36 states in the western regions. It was under the jurisdiction of the capital of the western regions. Shule city (the ancient Shichengzi site on the slope of magouliang, banjiegou Town, Qitai County) was built. During the Three Kingdoms period, the state of vermicularity came into being. In the 40th year of Qianlong's reign, the Qing government stationed troops in today's Qitai town to build Fuyuan city. In 1776, Qitai County was set up, belonging to Dihua Prefecture. It is said that when the county was built, there was no water in the 40 Li shaft, so it was named Qitai. Guangxu 15 years (1889) from the "Jingning city" moved to the site, because the territory of the Tang Dynasty Dun ancient city, re named "Guchengzi.". Qitai was once a strategic town for military strategists, and also a transportation hub and an important commercial port on the new North Road of the ancient Silk Road. At the end of Qing Dynasty and the beginning of Ming Dynasty, there were 690 big and small business firms in the ancient city, and more than 40000 humps of camels were transported to and from the ancient city. Since ancient times, there has been a true portrayal of "thousands of humped camels walk through Qitai, and hundreds of carts enter the ancient city". In history, it was as famous as Hami, Urumqi, and ILI, and was also known as the four major commercial cities in Xinjiang, known as "jinqitai" and "dry dock". In September 1949, Xinjiang was peacefully liberated and subordinate to Dihua special region. In May 1958, it was put under the jurisdiction of Changji Hui Autonomous Prefecture.
Tatar, known as Tatar in history, is a descendant of the Yu family of baidixian. It is a nation formed by the integration of Mongols, baogar people and Kipchak people in history. It lived in the Volga River and Kama River area in the 15th century. In 1830, the first Tatars moved from Siberia to Altay. At the beginning of the 20th century, he moved to the present site on both sides of Baiyang River at the junction of Qitai County and Jimusaer county. On July 20, 1989, it was established with the approval of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. On July 25, 1989, Daquan Tatar township of Qitai County was officially established (separated from Dongwan township). It is the only new pastoral Township with Tatar as the main body in Xinjiang and even in China. So far, it is the only Tatar Township in China.

Daquan Tatar township is located in the groundwater overflow zone in the lower part of alluvial proluvial plain on the north slope of Bogda mountain in the east of Middle Tianshan Mountains, which belongs to the fine soil plain area in the lower part of inclined plain. The terrain is high in the South and low in the north. The altitude drops from 872 meters to 772 meters. The geographical coordinates are 89 ° 13'e to 91 ° 22'e and 42 ° 25'n to 45 ° 29'n. the average ground slope is about four thousandths and it is slightly inclined to the northwest. On the ground, there are many gullies in the direction of North-South by Northwest. Generally, the width of gullies is 3-15m, and the depth of gullies is 1-5m. Most of the terrain in this area is flat, with large flat and small uneven. There are many scarps along the north boundary.

The climate of Daquan Tatar village belongs to the middle temperate zone. Because it is close to Tianshan Mountain in the south, desert in the north and open in the East and West, its climate is controlled by Mongolian air mass, and it has typical continental arid climate characteristics. It is cold in winter, hot in summer, four distinct seasons, less precipitation and large evaporation. The frost free period is three months. The planting production belongs to the area of once a year.

The enrollment rate of junior middle school is the highest among the four ethnic townships in the county. The main crops in Daquan Tatar township are wheat, corn, beet, oil, barley, melon, hulless gourd, flax, forage, alfalfa, etc. There are 72 organic electric wells in the township, of which 62 are now used as supporting facilities, with water consumption of 7 million cubic meters per mu and an average of 280 cubic meters per mu, effectively controlling the irrigation area of 25000 mu.
