In 1951, it belonged to five districts (Nanshan District). In 1954, it was the Sixth District (queergou District). In 1958, it was a satellite commune. In 1962, qiergou commune was established. In 1966, it was renamed Dongfanghong commune. In 1978, it was renamed queergou commune. In 1984, the town was built. In October 2019, queergou town governs six administrative villages.
